Yah, they should make an anime of PokeSpecial and make it rated M, so it could have deaths like the Manga.
They could put it on Adult Swim.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars showed a character being stabbed through the heart and killed on Cartoon Network so it wouldn't really need a TV-M rating or air on [adult swim]. The most it would realistically get is TV-PG since the S, L, or D tags wouldn't be needed. You could add FV though but not really.

The Mario example does not really apply here because the TV Show and game were not as interdependent on each other as the mega multimedia franchise Pokemon is. The game perpetuates content for the anime while the anime perpetuates interest in the game, the cycle continues on and on and on and on (for four generations now!); in the end, Nintendo sells more and more games.

I say they will go back to Johto for Platinum Battle Frontier, and Nintendo will start showing sneak peaks of the fifth generation during that arc.

The Mario Games had plotlines that both dealt with and didn't deal with the original games, just like the Pokemon Anime. Also like the Pokemon Anime, they were released after the games were made, so yes, they were certainly interdependent to each other. Maybe it wasn't to the Mario Creators in Japan, but it certainly was considered interdependent in regards to America or other areas outside Japan.

I think that after Ash/Dawn have done in Sinnoh (eg Elite 4) then they'll get a call from Prof Oak informing Ash that a new Battle Fronter has opened in Johto and recommends Ash visits. This could be linked to: THE STORY ARC THAT TIME FORGOT! aka the GS Ball which Kurt still has remember, it's years now he must be at least a little bit closer to opening it.

EDIT: I hope they keep Dawn though, she has been my favourite companion so far (although I missed the entire advanced generation), besides they could always put the Grand Festival in Johto
EDIT:EDIT: I think the reason they haven't shown us any Gen V previews yet, is there isn't even a console for Gen V to be made for yet! And if anyone says "It could be on DS" well then that would be Gen IV wouldn't it?

Noooooooooooooooooooooo............... The Generations go though the generation of pokemon not consoles e.g. gen 1 are bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle and gen 2 are chickorita, cyniquil and totodile.... If im wrong (i think i may be ^^") dsi is sorta a new console...? But maybe the dsi is some sort of gameboy micro? think.... three consoles for gba games and so far three consoles for the ds franise, so maybe a new console will be comming soon? sorry if what ive just said makes no sence and its very off topic?

They don't appear to see problems in adding filler episodes...
When I used to watch the anime, 80% of the episodes consisted in:
1. Ash finding Random Person who has a Pokemon and everyone becomes friend
2. Team Rocket appears
3. Defeat Team Rocket, they fly away
4. Random Person thanks and they go away and wave good bye.
If they ever need to interrupt the series, they'll do this, like they did between 2nd and 3rd badges on Johto series.

FireRed and LeafGreen were remakes, and the anime didn't end there. It's already been said that Ash still has another badge to get, and there's still the Battle Frontier, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Pokemon League to go to. I highly doubt the anime would just stop there, nor do I ever recall the anime and the game to have the same canon or follow each other, with the exception of Pokemon Yellow.

long as people keep watching it, it will continue to air. it should be good for a while.

Probable: The anime will branch off on another original arc similar to the Orange Islands or Battle Frontier until a game with new content is released for them to follow.

Ideal: The anime ends. After the final episode, a Pokemon Special anime animated by BONES is announced.
Well thats rather a dream thean very probable xD
