Hello PC! It's me XDamaru. I'm the old member but I post here not so often so maybe you don't know who am I.
I started Competitive Battling a long time ago. I understand a EV/IV/Nature and breeding mechanics. I know how to make a BR pokemon. Everyday I'm breed a BR Pokemon and became a player of Competitive battling. I often join small Tourney in my place
School activities make me away from pokemon battling world. When I'm return to battle last week... I'm surprised
My team looks outdated. Since I don't know ORAS Mega Pokemon strategy, i feel that the game being unbalanced. There are some battles with legends Pokemon in battle spot and I can't handle all of them. This make me defeated few times
Why Sableye Prankster is not annoying anymore? Why a Smeargle with Spore and Baton Pass trick can be broken easily? and why a "Follow Me" team is extremely old and outdated
Perhaps I'm lost my skill :(

Guys, could you help me out with this problem and what should I do to improve my battle skill? Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks a bunch!

Yeah unrated Battle Spot is filled with Primal Weather Trio teams. Try to do rated battles if you can. Sableye is still good, it's just that the mega is more attractive to the majority of people because better bulk+Magic Bounce.

First thing you'll probably wanna do is look at all the SmogDex pages for the new megas to get an idea of what people commonly use on them. Most of the Gen 6 Pokemon also got a few new toys to play with via ORAS move tutors so there's that too. Also if you have a team to show us we might be able to help you there a bit.

I think though that once you start battling more again you won't be so rusty anymore.

The meta is always changing, so I understand you being confused about certain things not working as well all the time.
Just practice a lot, experiment with different Pokemon and always focus on your strengths and weaknesses. Find an experienced player who could tutor or play with you, often times you get to learn a lot from the best even if you lose.
What Pokemon do you like to use, or what mega's interest you? You could start off with one of your favorite Pokemon and building your team around it, focusing on what you might need such as hazards and good Pokemon to switch into. It's okay to not be perfect your first teams, experimenting and trial/error is what will help you gain experience.
Something important to remember is that you have to adapt to the meta changes. Every Pokemon can possibly be viable, but good plays and prediction are what make it viable.
Be sure to read up on Smogon analyses, check out videos or streamers who commentate really good too.

Also, I just checked out the resources sticky here in this forum and I see some very useful stuff, so do be sure to check them out! It might be time consuming but it's definitely worth it. (Just in case you overlooked it I'll link it anyway)

Hmm... I haven't try ORAS team on showdown. I will test the battle this weekend
About the new mega pokemon. I'll try some of them to improve my team. (Well, actually i loved the sableye prankster and not it's mega. It fun to annoyed others pokemon with prankster ability :D)

Maybe because I seldom to take online battle. I will managed time this weekend so I can started to battle with others.
Yes you right, understand the metagames is very necessary
And thanks a lot about the resource files (and the Guidelines of this subforum)

Although I don't like it, filling your team with ubers and going to the battle spot is a great way to scope out the new metagame while still racking up a few wins.
    Yeah thanks man!

Thanks for replying my thread :D (and Mods you can close this thread.)

playing on cartridge and showdown is pretty different tbh.

on cartridge (or more specifically, battle spot), im p sure nothing is banned except for the list of legendaries below:
    Spoiler:

if you're playing on showdown, you will be playing by tiers (eg: ou, uu, nu, etc). assuming you already know what the tiers are and that you're playing ou, you should know that some megas and ordinary pokemon (mega gengar, greninja, etc) are banned and some legendaries (keldeo, diancie, etc) arent. ofc they're seperate banlists and rules for other tiers, but i only play ou so meh.

so with different banlists and different rules, the metagame of battle spot and certain tiers are pretty different. if you want to improve, you should determine your mode of playing (cartridge or showdown) and do some research and practice on that.

    hope this helped n_n

ps: battle spot and ubers are pretty much the same imo (correct me if im wrong).

and mega sableye is a fantastic pokemon. even though it loses prankster, it still benefits from prankster's effect on the turn of mega evolving. so basically, turn of mega evolving = prankster and magic bounce at the same time! mega sableye can effectively pull of a calm mind set (its most popular set) and even an utility set. magic bounce prevents status moves from affecting it, and opponents cant set entry hazards due to magic bounce too. so without status moves to cripple it, it can setup safely (thanks to its great bulk post-mega evo) and sweep after a few boosts.
