    hi~
can I get opinions/ help developing these ideas?
    they're for a pokemon-like game.
for clarity, I say pokemon, surf HM, etc, but I mean my game's equivalent of them.

    - No level cap
plants/ reptiles having no level cap. normally it's lv.100
the exp needed can rise so fast that you can't really get above lv.125 or so.
then, "boss battle" pokemon can just be very old, and be like, lv.200
or, it can only be for your starter, so it'll be special and get stronger the longer you have it.

    - Companion pokemon
an extra pokemon, which isn't in the party.
they'll follow behind the player, and can use Surf HM, or other useful abilities. they cannot be used in battle, but do gain exp.
this achieves multiple goals: like, letting you take your favorite pokemon with you, even if it's weak/ un evolved,
training up pokemon which evolve late, showing off a rare shiny, or having HM slave without using a party slot.
more importantly, pokemon are useful for more than just battle. ie: imagine a pokemon which helps you earn
money or raises the shiny chance.

    - Weakest pokemon sent out first
trainers will have a party with a wide range of levels, and always send the weakest first.
so training new party members is easy: you can place them first , and battle the trainer's first pokemon,
    until higher-level pokemon come out.

    - Riding pokemon / prize pokemon
compete in the Riding-Club challenge to prove you can ride well, and earn a riding license & the gear for it.
there are clubs for swim/soar/dig/dive/etc. there's an obstacle course related to their element, and some trainers.
clubs must use pokemon below a certain level. so when they get too powerful, they give them away. when you go in without a fitting pokemon, you get to select between 3 pets, which can be used with the club's Riding License (you need one to compete)

please don't use these ideas. actually, a pokemon game with those will be cool. but please ask first.
