Help me evolve three Pokemon?

I have a Haunter, Machoke, and Kadabra I want to evolve in Pearl.

Can someone help me evolve these three?

Also, I haven't done this in a while, can you tell me how we trade...do we need a friend code or something?

I just read somewhere that if I let the pokemon stay in the GTS and take them off, they'll evolve?
