I'm fairly new to the competitive battle scene and have been working to try and figure out a team that works for me that I enjoy playing with.
Hoping that some of you wonderful gurus here can help me out by critiquing the Pokemon I have so far and offering suggestions for other Pokemon that might work well with what I have so far.
So, here's what I'm running with at the moment.
Espeon @Light Clay
Timid | Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 SpA
Light Screen
Reflect
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Works for setting up screens to help out the rest of the team and taking out pokemon weak to psychic. I LOVE the Magic Bounce ability, it's so useful to cripple status users, especially when I can predict and switch in on them. I'm not 100% set with this moveset so suggestions are much appreciated.
Vaporeon @Leftovers
Bold | Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def / 4 Spe
Toxic
Scald
Wish
Protect
Probably my favourite Pokemon to battle with, I love that it can take some hard hits. Scald is nice to do damage and burn hard hitting attackers, it helps avoid being crippled by Taunt, and works well when the opponent anticipates Toxic and switches in with a steel type.
Ninetales @Wide Lens
Calm | Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Flamethrower
Solar Beam
Will-o-Wisp
Roar
I know Timid tends to be a more popular nature with Ninetales and I've tried working with that nature before but I find it goes down too quickly. I like that this one can withstand a couple hits, especially when safe behind Espeon's screens, and at the same time hurt some water types with Drought & Solar Beam. Will-o-Wisp is nice for hurting physical attackers and Roar helps interrupt opponents trying to set-up.
Scizor @Choice Band
Adamant | Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brick Break
U-Turn
Bullet Punch
Pursuit
I know Scizor isn't the greatest combination with a Drought Ninetales on the team, but I figure most of the time if he for whatever reason has to face a Fire attack anyways, he's dead meat already. Anyways, I like how hard hitting he is but I'm not loving that the Choice Band locks him in to one move. Other item suggestions would be great. Bullet Punch's priority makes it fantastic for hitting Fairy types and whatever takes neutral damage and Pursuit is good for hitting fleeing Psychic and Ghost types. Brick Break is nice against other Steel types and U-Turn works well on Dark types.
That's who I've got so far. I'd love some suggestions for final Pokemon to round out the team and ways that I can improve on what I've got so far. I've experimented with Mega Gardevoir and liked it but found it to be quite frail. Same with Mega Gengar.
I'm open to anything, except I'm quite insistent on keeping both Vaporeon and Ninetales.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions. c:
