Help needed in hacking

Not from my experience, im not the most knowledgeable person out there on the ins and outs of it. But YAPE only seems to work with a clean rom.
Im assuming from the little I know that you could probably fix that problem by indexing some stuff so that YAPE can read and write that data to the rom.
How would you go about doing that? I don't have a clue.

What are you trying to do?
