...I have two rather strange questions: they might turn out to have been somewhat stupid, but many gamers suffer for trusting logic and common sense, LoL!! :tired:

Q1. When you approach the table in Professor Oak's lab to receive your first Pokemon, and press A, a picture of the Pokemon in the selected Pokeball appears. My question is, can you tell from this picture alone whether or not the Pokemon is Shiny, or do you have to wait for Gary to choose his as well before being able to actually go into your menu and check? I've been using the soft-reset method, searching for a Shiny legitimately, and have had no luck whatsoever.

Q2. Do Rocket Game Corner Pokemon adhere to the usual 1:8192 rule, or are they never Shiny? I've been buying three Dratinis and two Clefairys every time, then soft-resetting. Was it all for nothing, or can these Pokemon be Shiny too?

It is possible to get shinies this way, although you won't know until after you have them (so no, it won't show up on the pictures before you choose the starter).

    Thought not...

    *sweat drop*

    Thanks!!

P.S. What about Game Corner Pkmn?

Heh, I thought I'd already covered that. Yes, the Game Corner Pokemon can still be shiny.

Sorry; hours of unsuccessful Shiny hunting make me impatient. It helps when people are specific.

    *dies of exhaustion*

Basically, everything has the possibility to be shiny, but you need to see their whole picture in battle or in its status picture to actually tell if it is shiny. Little icon image thingies don't represent anything but what species of Pokemon it is.

Darn... I was sort of hoping that I wouldn't have to watch Gary receive his Squirtle over and over. XD
