    Hi everybody,

I need three more members to add to my HG team, and I would like some suggestions.
    So far I have...

    Lanturn- lvl 38 (Calm nature)
    Typhlosion- lvl 37 (Timid nature)
    Gengar- lvl 36 (Timid nature)

I was thinking of catching a phanphy, or maybe a heracross. Also a good ice type?
    Thanks

well. I think you could get a
    Phanpy
ill trade you a lv. 1 UT sneasel if you want but i dunno about the third.

    Probably better off with Heracross~
Ice Type, I'd say meh. :/ I'd rather give that slot to a Legendary, like Ho-Oh Lanturn can learn Ice Beam anyways!
And no Grass type~? I always used Jumpluff cause, well, I like Jumpluff! :D

You have a weakness to ground types u.u Lanturn is to slow to take down Ground types that could decimate you, Gengar has immunity but having a nice back-up wouldn't kill.

So, maybe a grass type such as Tangela or Tangrowth could help; There not fast, but they can withstand ground type moves.

I'll let someone else take over.

To tell the truth, you don't really need Grass types. You need to be able to execute Ice type moves, so I would either get Jynx, Offensive and fast, or Mamoswine, not the fastest but bulky, and learns Ice Shard Anyway. The only problem with Jynx is that it doesn't learn many good ice type moves, considering it's stats. It still hurts to get hit by Jynx's Ice Punch though.

Heracross is definitely a very good option. It learns Brick Break and Aerial Ace through level up, and pretty early on too.

You could put a grass type in the last slot, but Grass types are really not very good in Johto. There's like, one or two gyms that they can even do anything in. Try a Ground type in the last slot, Donphan is a very good option. Or you could go with Golem, another Good option.

An Ice type or Ice type moves are kinda needed for the eighth Gym and Lance.

Maybe consider the Lapras in Union Cave. Access to STAB Ice Beam + Thunderbolt gives it excellent Super-Effective coverage. It's also got a wide variety of other moves it has access to. It's a very versatile pokemon.

Another idea is the Red Gyarados. Gyarados is a beast in the 4th Gen games, and learns Ice Fang, which helps really in-game.
