If you still haven't figured it out yet, I'll baby step it to you.

1. https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/59518
Go there and read.

2. Let's say you want to go to smogon.
I can read that to connect to smogon, you put in nb.smogon.com or 70.82.107.51 .

3. I notice 70.82.107.51 doesn't work. So I decide to try nb.smogon.com.

4. I enter nb.smogon.com into the box. and click connect.

5. Viola. You're connected.

Pokemon_Master, this isn't a website, it's Netbattle, so I doubt you can fix it if you don't even know what it is.

Hmm that's weird. Are you sure your firewall has a 30000 port? if not it should work fine with the ip, maybe you have the wrong ip but I doubt it.
