I'm not very skilled with rom hacking, but i'm able to change the stats of pokémons using the PPRE (which is too damm easy)
So i'm trying to create a new type of gameplay by changing the Total Base Stats of all pokémon, making the game more interesting and giving oportunity to weaker pokémon being competitive.
I know there's no way a Butterfree can have the same TBS of a Dragonite, but the point is making the 200+ TBS difference smaller.
So i've been thinking about creating some rules to determine that, but it's hard to classify all of 'em.
- The babies pokémon MUST be the weakest - they're babies after all
- Legendaries MUST be the strongest - they are LEGENDS. Creators of the world. Rulers of Land and Water. But the LEGENDARY trios are weaker than a PSEUDO-Legendary pokémon...
- Starters pokémon need to be stronger than normal pokémons. Why? Because i want it. They won't be as strong as a pseudo-legendary mon tho.
- Early bugs (like Butterfree) are weaker than normal mons, but they still need to be competitive.
But here's the deal: It's been hard to classifiy the "Normal" pokémons that are not on that small group.
By evolution? But that means Raticate and Arcanine would have the same total. And what to do with a Ninetales that also only has 1 evo, is stronger than Raticate but weaker than Arcanine?
By time of game availability? But that will make a lot of bugs uncompetitive. Also, Flying, Normal and Bug type fans would try to curse me. I don't want to be cursed.
Don't worry about how much the fixed totals will be for each category, that's a problem for me only, i just need help with the categories themselves.
And just out of curiosity, i'll start by editing over a hack rom from Gen IV. If the gameplay gets interesting as i'm thinking i'll make it available somehow.
