Help with spriting

Hey guys so i decided to help a friend make sprites for fakemon for his fangame, but I have only like a week of experience
I know how to do pixel overs, recolors, etc. But im having trouble with some hand drawn designs
I was hoping u could either help me do them or at least give me advise and your opinions on it :)

(If i figure out how, im gonna post pictures of what ive done and what im having trouble with)

If you're confident in your pixel overs, than the best thing to do to create a scratch sprite is to draw the design and pixel over it! I know it's not that simple, since being good at spriting doesn't mean being good at drawing, but I'd trust your intuition and go with drawing out the fakemon first.

If that doesn't work for you, then you can take a somewhat different approach to it and reference a specific bodypart from another sprite too! :)
