Alright I'm building a team and I'm thinking of adding this guy.

I was thinking about these moves:
    Curse
    Crunch
    Stone Edge
    Thunderbolt

I'm unsure of what nature to give him, and where to spread EVs.

I got an idea from the Best Overall Team thread to use Ninjask's ability to slowly gain speed. I was thinking I would baton pass that speed onto Tyranitar.

    Any help?

You best bet for a nature is Adamant. ( + Atk, - Sp. Atk)

Tyranitar can learn Dragon Dance which would boost it's speed and attack. Your moveset is on the right track. Crunch isnt bad at all and it gets STAB. Same with Stone Edge. Thunderbolt is useful. As for Curse I'd drop it for DD. you could drop TBolt for Earthquake though and make it a pure physical sweeper.

Its been a long time, but i agree with Punishment. Focus on his physical attacks. One of the bad qualities about Tyranitar are all of his weaknesses. Earthquake takes care of his steel weakness. Dragon Dance is a good choice, Thunder fang might be a good choice against water weaknesses, and crunch. The only weakness left are Grond and Grass.

I must have skipped over Dragon Dance. That works out alot better than Curse.

Is Thunder Fang any good? It's attack power seems so low at only 65...
He can also learn Fire Fang, which might help with the grass weakness?
How about Stone Edge that I put up there?

Thunder Fang is good between the pokemons weakness, your powerful attack, and it wouldn't hurt to do DD. Dont worry about Fire Fang. If your opponent sends out a ground or grass type, just switch pokemon. Tell all of your freinds abouth the overall best team thread. The more people that post, the more likely we will get the best team we can think of.

DD is an abbreviation for Dragon Dance.

You mean, What's DD? It's short for Dragon Dance, which boosts Attack and Speed. A nice addition to any Tyranitar moveset.

    Yea, I mean't what's. Typo.

Thanks. I kept seeing it but never knew what it meant.

Any idea on where I should spread my EVs? I'm thinking of putting them all into attack and speed.

For Tyranitar? You might want to put a little into defense. That's what I do anyway. I'm gonna start training my Adamant Larvitar soon too.

Would Pursuit be a good TTar move?

Depends on what TTar set you want. But mostly, no. I would go with:
    Dragon Dance
Thunder Fang(even though I don't know how to get it)
    Crunch
    Stone Edge(or Rock Slide)

Thunder Fang is not doing Tyranitar any good at all. Even with SE, it's still doing less than a STABed Stone Edge.

And don't say Thunder Fang punishes Gyarados. A SE Stone Edge picking up STAB also does more than a Thunder Fang.

Now, there's 2 ways to running Tyranitar. The Basic Way:

    Tyranitar @ Leftovers
    Ability: Sand Stream
    EVs: 128 HP / 200 Atk / 180 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Dragon Dance
    - Taunt / Crunch
    - Earthquake
    - Stone Edge

    Then there's the "IWANTTOKILLSTARMIENOW" Way:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers / Life Orb
    Ability: Sand Stream
    EVs: 48 HP / 208 Atk / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Stone Edge
    - Earthquake
    - Dragon Dance
    - Crunch
That's guaranteeing that Starmie will die if it switches in on Tyranitar using Dragon Dance. With 240 Speed + 1.5 Attack and Speed Boost from Dragon Dance, Tyranitar WILL be drawing first blood.

Thanks for all the help so far, guys. :)

I really like the EV distribution in the first set, Ice. What's with the second set though? Is Starmie a huge threat that you would dedicate an entire pokemon to it?

i was always wondering, what about puting aerial ace on TTar? it would cover his grass, and fighting weaknesses, and with a DD it could do some good damage, even though its not STABed

More like Starmie is an effective counter to Tyranitar, so building a Tar this way will be much harder to counter. It'll still be a very effective sweeper but it's sacrificing a little raw power to cover a weakness.

Obviously you don't switch into Tar against Starmie...
