does anyone know how to see if your pokemon are fake?

does anyone know how to see if your pokemon are fake?

You should try asking this in the "Quick Question and Answer Thread" but you can tell a pokemon is fake from where it was found, the type of ball it is caught in and what moves it knows. But if all of them are legit then the pokemon could possible be legit or the hacker hacked the pokemon to make it look legit. For events it is obvious from IDs, Balls and from whom it was obtained from.

The most obvious way is to check the pokemon's info screen - location caught, level caught, the ball it is caught in. Check with an online pokedex and see if they matche with the official data. The next step is to compare its moves with its learnable move pools in a pokedex.

Now for certain events or mystery gift pokemons its always a good idea to check with the date it is caught at, ribbons/pokeball it was caught in etc. Some events pokemons come with special ribbons and in premier balls etc.

However those are just very very basic checks, its impossible to tell if a pokemon is hacked or not unless you go deep into its PID/IV/nature combo checking which only a handful of people can do.

If its a shiny and if it is hatched from an egg, then its just a clever but rather obvious attempt at creating a legit looking shiny pokemon ;) 99% of all shinies are fake!

I think some mods on this forum offer free legality checking if you ask them.

Aah, I've been wondering this too. As I have a 'hatched', Shiny Lucario - I'm sure its fake. Plus, when I use a move, say, Close Combat, which has 5PP, using it once takes away 2PP... So when I use Close Combat, with 5/5PP, I end up with 3/3PP. Anyone know anthing about this?
