Helping Get Someone Started

I have a friend who wants to get into battling and I wanted some advice on what Pokemon I can help him get (IVs and egg moves and all) that will be easy for him to learn the basics of competitive battling with. He wants to use a Charizard-X so I was gonna set him up with that and an Excadrill for Rapid Spinning, but I'm not sure what other Pokemon would be good for easing him in. He's getting ORAS.

You'll wanna have a Ground resist or immunity since both Mega Zard X and Excadrill are weak to Ground, not to mention that Ground is a common attacking type and should be prepared for in general.

Stuff with Levitate like Rotom-Wash, Gengar, Lati@s, and Mismagius aren't bad choices. Maybe even Weezing. If you don't mind the extra Rock weakness, Flying types like Staraptor and Gyarados work nicely too.
