i have one more pokemon that i need to complete my 6 member team. so far i have
    Dragonite
    Metagross
    Blaziken
    Tyranitar
    Crobat
    ??????

for my 6th member i am debating a water type. The two i have in mind are STARMIE and LAPRAS.

does anyone know any reason for which one i should chose? please this would be so helpful!

here are their relative stats at the same level:

    Starmie:
    HP: 60
    AT: 75
    DEF: 85
    SP AT: 100
    SP DEF: 85
    SPEED: 115

    LAPRAS:
    HP: 130
    AT: 85
    DEF:80
    SP AT: 85
    SP DEF: 95
    SPEED: 60

    Azumaril?

Starmie has a great double type set. Water and Psychic, give you some advantage over the inevitable Fighting type.

But Lapras has Water and Ice. Flying and Grass beware.

This thread is in the wrong section...
I love how telling someone that their mini-modding is mini-modding in itself.

How far on in-game are you?

Here's some brilliant ones (Seeing as it appears you must've at least got to Kanto, if not defeated Red (Blaziken))

    -Empoleon
    -Milotic
    -Swampert
    -Kingdra
    -Lanturn
    -Manaphy
    -Kyogre
    -Phione
    -Floatzel
    -Blastoise

I could go on...there are so many, and I'll have forgotten one, no doubt...

i have defeated all badges and red. i have kyogre and some other water pokemon but i would like to keep a non-legendary team. so do you think that my two choices can be picked better? i.e. empoleon, kingdra and such. or would starmie or lapras be sufficient.

I'm quite happy with my lapras, i highly recommend it.

now i will ask you guys same question. my current team:
    Typhlosion
    Tyranitar
    Dragonite
    Genghar
    Lapras
    ?????????
i was thinking Victreebel or a fighting type, but am not really sure. i don't want any legendarys or alakazam

If you thought of Victreebel, a Grass type, but wanted a Fighting type Pokemon, I would suggest Breloom.(Grass AND Fighting)

    Hope I helped :)

yes. yeesss. yesssss *doing evil finger tap thing* i rather like that idea. i hadn't even considered it. i've never actually used breloom. it any good?

i've got them both instead :'). but in the end i think i am going to have to stick with STARMIE. STARYU has been one of my favourites for ages! so i think i want it it my team. but i have a lapras in the day care at around 47-48. my STARYU is now level 55 and i might give it a water stone later! thanks for the advice everyone.!!!!

and the breloom idea was great! i once had one in ruby and trust me, they are awesome!!!!! so strong! and cool aswell. But from looking at your team, i would sugget maybe an electric type? or teach your dragonite thunderbolt like i did. magnezone would be a great addition to your team or maybe a shiftry. But the brelloom is still aswesome.

Let's see, Tyranitar is specially bulky with sand stream (sandstorm boosts rock-types' spdef) and strong and metagross is physically defensive and strong. dragonite is reliable as almost anything, and blaziken and crobat are physical sweepers (unless blaziken is special, mine's not). so you have a specially-defensive tank (SpDef and Atk), a physical tank, a diverse (seemingly) special attacker since you said dragonite had tbolt, a diverse sweeper and a physical sweeper. i would recommend either a special tank, setup special sweeper or lead (if metagross is not your lead).
    I'd recommend:
    Lapras Calm/Modest
    Surf
    Thunderbolt
    Ice Beam/Ice Shard
    Rest/Ice Shard/Curse/Dragon Dance
    Swampert
    Impish/Adamant
    Stealth Rock
    Waterfall
    Earthquake/Roar/Return
    Avalanche/Earthquake
    Suicune
    Modest/Timid
    Calm Mind
    Ice Beam
    Surf
    Hidden Power Electric
If you REALLY want Starmie, go with:
    Modest/Timid
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Thunderbolt
    Grass Knot/Psychic

Kingdra is awesome. I recommend it.

    Give it

    Nature: Modest
    Ability: Swift Swim
    Moves:
    Ice Beam
    Surf/Hydro Pump
    Dragon Pulse
    Rain Dance

It will outrun things and get powered up surf/hydro pump, and sweep and destroy.
