Just look for some threads you like, post in them, make some friends, and have fun. It's a pretty simple concept if I do say so myself. xD

Any how, welcome to the Pokecommunity. I'm sure you will have fun here once you figure everything out. I suppose it can be just a tad bit daunting when you first visit. :o

However, the vast majority of members here at PC are pretty gosh darn friendly. I'm sure you can ask almost anyone for help around here and recieve quite the nice response.
