Ah, a up-and-coming hacker? You've definitely come to the right place! Check out our Emulation Forum, where you can see other member's hacks and even post a few of your own =P
There's plenty of other things to do here as well, just have a quick look around and you'll see many topics on which you can post. Even if you don't see anything interesting, create your own threads! There are literally endless possibilities here at PC! =P

If you want to learn how to hack, there are several people who can help you on the ROM Hacking board. Hopefully you can grace PC with the next greatest hack!

Yeah, most people here are nice. But of course, there are a few people who are just plain mean and others that are noobs, it is just natural. If they try to flame you, just ignore them.
But, lets put it this way, I have been on these boards for about 5 months and I have only met one mean person.
I'd say 99% of the people on here are nice and helpful.

Well, I can't think of any place better to hone your skills as a Pokémon ROM hacker then right here at the Pokécommunity!
If you wish, there is a sub-forum in the ROM Hacking section entitled Documents and Tutorials. That little area is just full of helpful guides and such that will get you well on your way to creating the next big game around! If you ever get stuck during the creation of said game, there is always the Simple Questions thread where one can ask... simple questions.
(Both of those resources helped me out immensely back in the day...)
