Higurashi no naku koro ni/Kai/Rei

Just wondering... are there any fans of this amazing series out here?

Basically, there is a group of kids who are peacefully living in the rural village of Hinimizawa - until disaster strikes. I can't really eleborate on that disaster since, well, spoilers.

Spoiler:

The disaster is different every few arcs.

This series comes in the form of a VN (the original), Anime, Manga, PS2, DS, and I believe a few others.

This is described as a Sound Novel in some places, since it focus' a lot on music. And I have to say, the music is pretty great.

My friend told me to read this and the series was very amazing to say the least.

So, some questions I guess.

Where are you right now?
After finishing Kai, I decided to go on to Rei. I'll probably watch the anime eps of Rei soon. Then I will most likely read the Anime/Manga exclusive arcs.

Favourite character?
Shion. For somewhat spoiler reasons. o/

I've been a huge fan of the first two anime series... then it became cash cow and it went to crap...
But I do have great memories of watching this and it will probably stay high on my horror list at least =)
Favorite character...? Probably Shion or Rika nipaa~ but... this series doesn't really give you character you can only like =D

Given that it has lovely voice acting talents (subbed) of Japanese voice actors and actresses I like, I've been SO tempted to watch this series.

My boyfriend loves it a lot (he loves horror) and tempts me as well. BUT my main problem is that I can't take horror very well. >_< When I watch it, I'm totally gunna hide my face xD

I think Rena is adorable <3 But her "other" side...

I'm going to give this a watch though! I promise you! I've seen clips on Youtube on parts. Doing that isn't a good idea because most of the time it spoils things but all in all, I think this show is more about mystery than the...

I LOVE THE FIRST TWO SEASONS - Which are pretty much the "real story".
Rei is just sad and should never have happened to this fantastic series.
The Outbreak OVA was watchable, but it pales in comparison to how amazing the original two series are.

I actually just started watching this again and there have been a few bits that still give me chills - and I do well with horror so that is saying something. I struggle to choose a favourite character probably Rika although Keichi and Satoko would be close seconds.
