2nd Gen Hitmonchan vs. Pirmeape

    Hello, I'm having a tought time on which one I should use. I really like Primeape, but if Hitmonchan is better I will use him.

    This is just for the games, not competition.
     
    I'd pick Hitmonchan. It has better stats all together.
    Plus if you can breed it with the ability Iron Fist then all its punching
    moves will go up in power.

    Although Hitmonchan and Primeape have the same stat totals
    I think Hitmonchans is divided better.
     
    I like Hitmonchan more, it's a cooler pokemon, less common & is very similar to Primeape anyway.
     
    Well, it's Red version so I can't breed and the hitmonchan isn't an evolution Hitmonchan.

    The Mankey will be evolved into the Primeape.

    Does that change any answers at all?
     
    Hitmonchan because I remember when I had one and all he had was the three punches and protect, lol.

    There were no abilitys back then...

    I say Primeape. Its faster, and its moves dont really difer from hitmonchans that much.
     
    Don't forget primeape is the second fastest fighting type in the game, i'd say go with Primeape if you want something speedy, it's nearly the same as Hitmonchan anyway.
     
    Primeape, since you're playing red version it's better. If you were playing any newer game i'd say hitmonchan.
     
    get the Primeape and be very very happy.
     
    Umm. Why can't you have both?
     
    Hitmonchan. He can learn all of the elemental punches which gives him a less shallow move set. And all of his stats are better

    That's a pretty good point there. But if you can only pick one, then Primape, because of it's high base Speed stat.

    It might just be me, but maybe he means to say "Hitmonlee"?
     
    Primeape is not very good. :x I'd choose Hitmonchan because he can learn a wide variety of moves with different types. All of those ______ Punches come in handy. You can use Ice Punch against a flying Pokemon and you'll be fine. Primeape can't really do that. XD

    I don't know, I'd choose Hitmonchan.
     
    My personal choice is Hitmonlee, based on the fact that his high att and speed, also he has a high special defense allowing him to survive most psyhic blasts though then again my Hitmonlee I raised from lvl 5 caught where you catch pidgeys and rattatas; the fact that I like Hitmonlee may factor in as well.
     
    Primape is better coz he's faster. He can also tackle flying types.
