2nd Gen Hm... so what does Pokerus do?

I was on vacation and started my Silver version over, and caught Pokerus very easy (after all the hours I spent looking in the grass for it!) My brother said it doubles the experience you gain in battle, but it doesn't seem to be doing that for me. Is that what it does or does it have a different purpose.. or none at all?

It doubles the amount of EV's you obtain from a battle (effort values) which i hope you know what that is, because im too lazy to explain it (Basically, the more ev's, the stronger you are, but there is a limit)

Ok thanks. I've heard of EV's before, but never really knew what they were. I might just find a board where they have more info on EV's then.
