So I was chatting with someone in another city today at an EB store. We were still chatting after I left the store, having discovered that he also likes Pokémon and started playing in the Hoenn days, but hasn't been able to get anything since (I took the opportunity to show him X, which happened to be up on the 3DS in my pocket at the time). During the period outside the store, I was glancing around in the PC and I went to a page of imported Pokémon from Black.

I came upon the World Championship 2012 Pikachu in the second spot in the box. I looked at its moveset. Then I looked again. And again.

For the first time, I had seen an HM move able to be transferred between generations. My 2012 Championship Pikachu still knows how to use Fly.

I'm glad one thing between generations is changing. I'm curious, if someone recreates the Surf Pikachu in Gen. V (by assigning the Gen. IV import the move with the AR attached), whether it would make it through the importing process since it would technically be a "hack"? Anyone up for trying?

Wait... you were able to teach your Pikachu Fly again? Or did it just... happen to know Fly again? Which generation is this?
The World Championship Pikachu, which at the time was distributed to Gen. V games, was transferrable to Kalos without Fly deleted. I didn't even realize that it was the one with the HM move until I looked in the box today. I have not hacked the 3DS or X/Y in any way.

The thing I'm wondering about is whether the hacked Pikachu (since you would need an AR to re-teach Surf to Pikachu) would make it from Gen. V into Kalos. And I'd be more interested, since a 10ANNIV Pikachu that originally knew Surf exists from R/S days, in whether another one is coming in Hoenn. 20th Anniversary, I'm guessing, will be when the eventual Delta Emerald releases, and that was the arc in the anime where a Pikachu knowing Surf first appeared.
