Hoenn's Struggle

"And I'll be a lustful Pikachu..." Jack muttered, extricating himself from below his starter. "And a fairly handsome one as well."

Directly behind him, a pair of swordsmen, one of whom seemed to be a refugee from a bad science fiction movie, stood directly across from him. Nearby, a couple of league trainers were out cold, taken down immediately by other survivors from the ship- at least, he assumed they were. Not many of them seemed familiar to him.

<Iwo Jima is going to look like Fort Sumpter by the time we're through here.> remarked Sonja, swishing her gigantic tales back and forth as she advanced towards the enemy.

"Where?"

<Alternate universe battles. Don't bother about them. Needless to say, I think we're in for a long hard slog.>

"Hmm... well, who should we team up with? It's a bad idea just to walk around alone..." Jack muttered, motioning to the rest of his team.

<The girl with the big staff looks interesting...> said Sabine, motioning in the general direction of a girl who appeared to be some sort of mage.

"Ding-ding-ding! Time's up let's move." muttered Jack, before leaping to the side to narrowly avoid an incoming egg bomb. Nearby, a very angry Chansey seemed to be making its way forward. "I didn't know the league owned all the PokeCenters around here. That's gonna make things complicated." Jack continued, leaping aside as yet another projectile began winging its way toward him.

<So, we move for mage-girl?> Rai asked, leaping onto her trainer's shoulder.

"You betcha. Move out, team!"

That was all the cue the group needed. As the next egg bomb came hurtling toward Jack-tachi, Audrey's vines in all of their thorny glory shot forward like living whips, rebounding the ovular projectile back towards its thrower, and creating a very convenient smokescreen. Meanwhile, Jack leaped onto Sonja's back, careful not to touch her tails, as Sabine and Rai clung to his shoulders. With a roar, the fiery fox leapt forward, racing towards the staff-wielding mage, with Audrey in hot pursuit.

"I think I'll try-defying gravity..." Jack hummed as the group sped forward.

Far from the group, Cody made it to the forest which would be a good route for the group to take if they wished to make it through Hoenn safer, for now anyway. Seeing how the group is still at the shores, he is taking this opportunity to cripple them even further.

"Blizzard." Cody commanded a force of unknown origin.

Suddenly a hail of ice came out from the ground as if coming forth from Cody, the actual source of the ice is unknown but it seems to be hidden around the mysterious trainer. A blizzard was created and covered the forest. The attack is very strong as it turned trees into icicles in a matter of seconds. Soon the entire forest or most of it at least is now frozen over, just enough to give the foreign trainers a hard time to travel. Making sure that no other route is available, he again commanded the force of ice,

"Ice Beam."

Soon a beam of ice was shot and spread across ground making it slick and dangerous to climb down making an alternative route to go around the forest impossible.

The air became cold by all of the ice. The Trainer turned around with his hat covering his face and his coat's collar blowing in the wind only showing the unknown trainer's eyes. Something could be seen next to him, is it a pokemon? It's unknown what it is. The trainer smiles.

"This should hold them off for awhile." He thought.

As he vanished the last time, a small twister of ice and snow engulfed him and in an instant he disappeared.

[OOC: ^-^ No problem.]

"A pleasure to meet you two," Zangetsu replied to Rataki, accepting her hand and giving it a firm shake. Hearing Alex speak, Zangetsu returned his hand to his side and cast a glance at the trainer. After studying Alex in the same manner he had Rataki and Risho, Zangetsu nodded slightly as he heard that Alex and his Pokemon were well, affirming, "That's good." The black magic-user's gaze shifted between the two other humans present as he introduced himself. "The name's Zangetsu Yuudzuki--though you can call me Zan if that's too much of a mouthful." Here Zangetsu jerked a mechanical thumb over his shoulder to indicate the crimson-coloured steel-type that stood behind him. "That's my partner, Scizor. His specialty is melee combat, and mine . . . " The warrior held his hand up, allowing an electric spark to dance across his fingertips for a passing moment. ". . . Mine is black magic, though you may not think it by looking at me."

Allowing himself a quiet, good-natured laugh in response to Alex's second question, Zangetsu admitted, "Well, I guess I can't really blend into the crowd, can I? As both of you seem to have noticed, I'm what most would call a cyborg--organic and mechanic meeting within a single being. It's the result of a little mishap I had awhile back."

Zangetsu fell silent for a moment before turning toward Scizor. "Well, let's see if we can get the Leaguers' uniforms off and put them somewhere they won't be found or escape. After that, we can return to the others." Half a step toward his Pokemon, Zangetsu paused--remembering the Pokeballs he held. Look down at the spheres resting in his hands, he mused, "We can hardly afford to return these to the enemy, and at least a third of the League's Pokemon nowadays are Pokemon confiscated from their opponents, anyway. I guess we'll just do the usual, and send them back to base for sorting."

Striding forward, Zangetsu dropped the Pokeballs into the curve of the bug-type's pincer before kneeling beside one of the unconscious League trainers and placing a small tracking device beneath the back of his undershirt. "I'll leave the rest to you, partner. Just put the Pokeballs at the nearest dropoff point." Zangetsu stood and began to make his way back to the beach, nodding at the Alex and Rataki as he did so. "Those uniforms should by useful in the future--especially since the enemy doesn't know all your faces yet. Anyway, we should probably be getting back to the main group." He grinned apologetically. "I told someone I'd be back. Hopefully he doesn't think I died or something."

Kairin stirred from her little cat-nap, and just early enough to see the end of a battle, a crazy male charging at a woman with a staff, and a man and a cyborg-person talking. The cyborg seemed to be near some knocked-out league members. She then saw a Scizor take of and fly somewhere.

'Rukai, wake up, wouldja?" Kuro pulled his Pokeball from her belt, pushed the button in the center, and in a flash of white light, Rukai was standing on the ground just a few feet away from where Kuro was.

{About time! Where is the enemy?} Rukai looked around frantically trying to find a fight.

"Calm down. There's no one to fight now. Seems I missed the last fight...I was asleep, ok?"

{Then why did you call me out? Well, I guess I should be thankful. That sphere is pretty unconfortable.} Rukai sat down, as well as a Kaburaisu could sit down.

"Looks like someone beat a few leaguers, but I was too late to wake up to nab their stuff. Heh, there's always next time." Kuro motioned for Rukai to follow, then walked over to a group of three people, a cyborg, a man, and a girl with a Rentoraa.

"Rukai, don't attack anyone...Yet," Kuro whispered to Rukai, who was about to leap at the Rentoraa. "Hello. I see one of you took care of those league members for me. I should thank you, but I rarely do those things. Before any of you are overcome with curiosity, I am Kairin Elvannis. I am an assassin, although that's just a name. You know, throwing daggers, poisons, and this claw I have are my weapons."

OoC: Gotta go to school. Not done w/ post.

OOC: I'm going to go ahead and post. Kind of short, but I'm not big on time right now. Midnight Dragon, you can continue your post in your next entry...

"Title or not, an assassin sounds like a person we'd like to have on our team." Wrang joined the group, standing aside the girl who just introduced herself as Kairin Elvannis. He flicked back a red bang obstructing his right eye. While the five of them were getting know each other a little better, he thought he might as well introduce himself as well. "You guys can call me Wrang." He disregarded mentioning his last name. He doubted the gang would come across another Wrang during their journeys.

"Ah! You!" It was the half-man, half-machine combo that had found his gunblade earlier. "You disappeared before I could show my gratitude for your assistance. I don't know where I'd be without this baby." He held the blade up vertically. His head tilted slightly as he examined the weapon slowly twirling in his grasp. "Anyway," he slid the blade into the sheath strapped to his back. "I think we better get a move on. The sun seems anxious to set, and given a few hours I'm sure it will. With that said, we are definitely not going to make it to Rustboro before nightfall. If we can at least make it to the forest over there…" he pointed to a group of trees in the distance. "We can set up camp. Then regroup and recover, so that we'll be at top form when we infiltrate the City tomorrow. We'll need to make up for our shortage in number by being as prepared as possible."

He surveyed the beach once more. "If everybody's content with the idea, then we can start informing the rest. Now would be the best time to bring up concerns you may have with the plan. Anybody?"

(*)(*)(*)

"I agree. We need to get everyone in group and head out. We dont have time to straggle. The more we lag, the more time the League has to time find us. I dont think we should get to caught up into anything big just yet. But we need someone to take charge. If I had any say it," Alex spoke firmly. "It would definetly be Zangetsu. How are we going to get everyone to gather up thought?" Alex asked, as he looked at everyone standing on the beach.

In a flash, Scyther appeared by Alex's side, looking around the beach.

"Anything?" Alex asked his pokemon. The large bug shook his head in reply. "Well we dont have to worry about any League members ain the time being. No is within a two mile radius." Alex spoke as he looked back as his pokemon who nodded in agreement.

Rataki and Risho both let out soft laughs. "You're speaking a bit early, if I do say so myself. Any one of you is welcome to, as you put it, take charge, but that doesn't mean the others will follow them. Many of the survivors are injured and I'm sure some have lost their weapons and perhaps their Pokemon as well. I was fortunate to lose only a few arrows."

'There's also the fact that we don't know one another well enough to choose a leader. We've only seen, what, two, maybe three people fight, who knows what the others can do. And leadership isn't based on strength alone.'

Rataki wasn't sure if the others were able to understand Risho as she was, he was a rarer Pokemon in these parts, but she had no intentions of translating for them. If they understood, fine, if not, fine. "Risho is right, but electing a leader is the last thing we should worry about now. Right now we need to go with Wrang and get everyone into the shelter of the trees. Once we've all had time to calm down and get some rest, then we can decide what else to do."

Risho gave a low growl of approval at her words, then turned to inform trainer's Pokemon of what to do. Rataki couldn't help giving a small smile. Risho was not the friendliest of Pokemon. No doubt he'd get the message through, though. Still, there were people there who didn't have Pokemon, or hadn't released them at least, so she followed to assist him.

Alex gave the girl a glare that could chill you to the bone. "It was just a suggestion. Last I checked he did ask if we had a plan and I was just throwing an idea out there. God forbid! Next time just bite my head off why dont you!" Alex snapped. He hated it when people mouthed off to him when they had not a clue about who he was.

"Well, your full of bright idea's, how do you suggest we get everyone on the beach together. You gonna lead that one?" He grinned at her. His Scyther glaring at her pokemon.

Calm down Scyther. We dont need a fight between the same group here! Alexander thought to himself. Scyther took the look Alex threw him as a hint to backoff.

"We can get everyone to the woods if we dont have people leading and you said we shouldn't choose a leader until were in the forest. Nice." Alex spoke like as he gave her a devilish look.

Alex stop it. We dont need conflict with each other and your just making it worse! Keep your big mouth shut! Alex argued within himself.

Maybe I'm just being slow, but I have no idea what you're trying to say here. Do you mean "You said we don't need a leader to get people to the forest but you also said we don't need to choose a leader."? If so...I'm still confused.

Lena sighed. More conversations. A couple seemed to be heading in a somewhat disastrous direction - some people were already squabbling over something or other. Goodness. She smirked, but didn't move. Well, at least until she noticed the approaching male. Her eyes narrowed, and she quickly spun to face him, staff held in such a way that it could be easily brought into a defensive position. The glare she shot him was one of poison; perhaps not because she disliked him - how could she, after all, when she hadn't even seen him before? - but more because she was afraid. She didn't even know what she was afraid of. She just looked at him, face as deathly pale as ever, ivory hair whipping around her. He appeared to be muttering to himself, and Lena couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. She opened her mouth, as if to speak, but clamped it shut again, apparently deciding against speech. She then took in his appearance, and her brow heightened further, if it were possible. His hair was a bright, bright blonde. He might as well have been wearing a wig. And his clothing sense was, to put it nicely, a little quirky. Green and yellow just didn't seem to work on him. It was odd. He seemed to like fishing.

She heard an inquisitive voice from somewhere. She didn't know it, and thus didn't care much. She decided to ignore it and focus on the current situation, which was to get this boy as far away from her as possible. He could infect her with something. Lena's attention shifted. She noted the weather; it was a beautiful day, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Except for that one, she noticed after a moment of searching. It looks like a sheep. How interesting.

Suddenly, a chill swept past. Lena blinked, then resumed her unbroken gaze on the boy. A blizzard swept up - on a beach? Lena spunaround at this and lifted her staff. A soft, golden glow appeared before her, blocking the winds from reaching her. It appeared to be quite shaky, as if she were only beginning to use this spell. "Oi!" she snarled, breaking her code of silence. "Quit it! I like being warm!" She frowned again. Now she thought about it, she hadn't really even been cold - her thick clothing had protected her from the bite of the blizzard. Still, it felt good to argue. She smirked, then turned back to the boy. Still saying nothing, she merely analysed him carefully.

OOC: Here, "We can't get to the woods without a leader leading us, and you say we dont need to select a leader until we get there." Like, we need one to get there but were not picking on until we get there.

All Set?

OOC: Seems like my fellow Chiki-Chiki boy has been banned. Anybody know why…?

Wrang scratched his chin thoughtfully. His gaze shifted between the two who ignited a disagreement with the potential to turn ugly. "My view is that we are strongest when united and acting as one. Accomplishing a state of unity becomes more difficult with a large number of members, and as we have just witnessed with you two, our varied personas will not always complement one on another. But if we have any hope to succeed in being united, we must learn to handle conflict in a reasonable manner - which means we should try to be less emotional and more logical when we express our opinions."

The red-head put a hand on Alex' shoulder. "I understand how simple it is to succumb to emotion at a time like this." The many deaths that had taken place affected different people in different ways. "But you have to do your best not to get angry with fellow survivors." There were few of them to begin with; they didn't need to be fighting amongst themselves. His mind traveled back to the notion of electing a leader. "If we do assign a respectable leader, maybe it'll help us be better organized?" In general, assigning somebody with a leadership role didn't seem like such a bad idea to Wrang. However, he had to agree with Rataki with regard to the right moment for doing so.

"Like Rataki said, I think it would be best if we focused on getting to a safe place first. We should be able to move as a group towards the forest. On the way, we could learn more about each other so that once there, when we dwelve deeper into strategies and other matters, we will have more information to help us with our decisions ."

Wrang looked at the various faces around him. "…Any objections?" He was almost hesitant to ask.

OOC: Not the faintest clue. I really don't know why half the members are banned these days. ^^; My guess it probably has to do with something said over PMs or something of the sort.

IC: Rataki merely shrugged at Alex's reply. What he said didn't make much sense to her as she had never implied that they needed a leader to get where they were going. If she could remember correctly, and she was pretty sure she could, she had said they didn't need a leader to get there. Still, there was the chance that she had been tricked by her own words and had merely said something that had been interpreted incorrectly. Whatever the case, she had no intentions of being drawn into an argument.

Wrang's short speech only a few moments later indicated that he felt an argument was a bad idea as well. Good, a person with a sensible head on his shoulders, she thought cheerfully to herself, pausing to grab Risho by the tail. The large Rentoraa gave her a very annoyed look but stopped walking.

'The quicker we move the better chance we have. I have no intentions of harming a single hair on any Pokemon or human and I do not act rashly. Surely you know me well enough by now to predict this.'

"Yes, I do know you well enough," she replied simply, turning back to listen to the rest of what Wrang had to say. When he had finished with a slightly tentative "Any objections?" Rataki merely shook her head and said calmly, "I think it's a perfectly suitable idea." Then she released Risho and let him pad off towards the nearest Pokemon to inform it of their intentions.

[OOC: It might have been related to his signature, though I doubt a member would be banned for something such as that . . . ]

"Looks like I don't need to go back to the others after all," Zangetsu thought silently as Kairin and Wrang approached. After giving a brief nod to both assassin and swordsman, the cyborg fell relatively still as he listened to and watched the ensuing argument. At this early stage, conflict had already begun to appear in the group--though at least Alex and Rataki seemed willing to speak their minds. Brief amusement flitted across Zangetsu's features before being replaced by a more serious expression. Folding his arms across his chest, Zangetsu waited wordlessly for the others to speak their piece before voicing his opinion.

"Well, with a leader or without, getting somewhere safe is probably something we can all be united about. The longer we wait, the higher probability there is of the League discovering several of its members are missing. But even so, it's important for us to be at full strength, too. Being ill-prepared during an attack can destroy all other advantages once had, while proper preparation can use disadvantages as strengths." Zangetsu shrugged as though suddenly indifferent. "Eh, those're just my thoughts. Anyway, no objections to the forest idea on my part."

Ichigo stayed timid while the other members of the group profusely argued about a leader, and if they would either first have a leader and then go into the forest, or would stay away from this open beach and go into the forest and then pick the leader. Even Ichigo had to admit, it was pretty kooky. If you knew Ichigo, you could tell she was about to make a witty, and quirky comment on this arguement. But she stopped. Simply because she was one of the youngest here, but everyone else looked oh-so intimidating, scary to say the least.

There was one girl who appeared to be seven years older then her. She had pretty blonde hair, and ivory skin. She could tell that the girl was a mage, Ichigo could simply tell this because of her staff, which by the way - Ichigo thought was very beautiful. She was one of the least intimidating people here, but her personality seemed to be a bit cold.

Then there a boy; who scared Ichigo greatly. He looked as if a half-men, and a half-cyborg. But he seemed calm, one of the down-to-earth ones of the group. His Pokemon wasn't better; the crimson sheild, the way he handled the league members. It seemed like killing was a second nature to the Pokemon. Ichigo didn't know what proffession he was in, as he had no visible weapon on him, but the bracelet of his seemed suspicious.

Then there was a swordman. He had fiery, scarlet red hair. He was calm too, and seemed he had a lot of common-sense, not like the others didn't have common-sense. He had a sword, a gunblade that he cared deeply about, it was just like her club, Tsuki. He was also older then her by about seven years and looked ust as intiidating as everyone else.

An archer; she seemed one of the youngest, but still passed Ichigo's age by about four years. She was calm, like all the others, and Ichigo once again thought she was pretty. Her Pokemon was the most intimidating part. It was a Rentoraa, Ichigo recognized this aspect. But he was very serious, and focused a lot. The complete opposite of Ichigo.

Ichigo gulped at all the intimidating people, and couldn't manage to speak to all to them, but she looked on, and soon, she gazed at everyone, as if she was expecting an answer.

"Heh. I honestly don't think that there needs to be a leader. And a forest? No problem for me. As long as there are trees, no one can get an advantage on me!" Kuro jumped backwards, displayed some fancy kicks and such, and ended with throwing a dagger up in the air, then catching it with her right index finger and thumb. She then tucked the dagger back into her belt, along with the rest of the daggers. "See? If you can just keep yourself hidden, you can pop out and deliver some powerful combos! At least, that's what makes me an assassin!" Kuro shouted from away from the group. She then walked back to the group, and pointed at Rukai.

"You all also didn't let me introduce Rukai over here. He's a Kaburaisu, and a very powerful one at that. And...That's about it."

{That's it? You gave yourself this long introduction, and all you say about me is my name?} Rukai crossed his arms and started swinging his finned tail back and forth. He started to stare intently at Kuro.

Kuro simply looked at him menacingly, and Rukai immediately uncrossed his arms and looked forward. "Anyways, can we go? I feel like kicking some league tail."

OOC: Sorry for not posting earlier... My net was down for like 4 days...

Saku awoke upon a part of the beach which was quite a distance from the crash site of a boat in the distance. Shaking his head twice, his senses tingled a bit but he regained control of them. His body was unharmed but his clothes were soaked from his overboard jump to escaped annihilation from the ambush of the league members.

As he picked himself off the groumd, Saku dusted himself off and tied his katana onto his belt while making his way towards the remains of the boat to see if there were any survivors. As his every step took him closer and closer to the crash, he saw a group of unconscious men sprawled about the ground. Saku didn't recognize any of the faces from the boats meaning they were probably league members. As Saku peered around, he caught sight of a small group of people right before the entrance into a large forest. Saku walked towards them knowing they were of the only surviving members of the ships.

"Saku Shinorama, reporting. I seemed to have been shipwrecked away from the group but that is not a problem now." Saku declared ,feeling a bit tense from the new strangers about him, when he joined the group who seemed to be struggling with some sort of problem he did not know of. He decided not to ask of what was wrong but he felt he should had.
