Hostage situation in New York

I heard the reason why was because he lost his job, he went on a rampage. =|

This happened three buildings away from me. My work went on the lockdown and people were talking about it all day. It's pretty scary. I'm just glad it's over.

WHoa, that would be so freaky. Like almost a second away. Pretty nasty looking sky youve got there. Whoa, this happens a lot. last year, there was that uni murder. geez, its a small world. Thankfully no one else was killed. :(

That is some scary stuff.I don't think I could ever handle that.

And, yet, the American majority still agrees with the public being able to own guns :P Disgusting crimes like this are happening on a shockingly regular basis and still nothing is changing and people still want their pistols/rifles... I just can't fathom it...

I bet loads of people will be thinking Video games did this.

The usual Video Game bashers will come out yet again. D:

And Aura...That's very, very disorienting. I didn't really think of this issue much when I saw it...but now finding out you were so close to it...

The power of the Internet. ;_;

I'm not so sure in this case - the guy wrote (or at least, attempted to write) a very direct letter explaining his actions, so I doubt they could blame it on much else.

I highly doubt it. I believe the gunman didn't like immigrants. This attack seems to be very well planned out. Why else would he attack an immigration center ?

Example:
The shooter, described by local media as a young Asian male, blocked the back door of the building with his car, then stormed in through the front entrance while firing a high-powered gun.

The gunshooter blocked the back door with his car in order to disallow anyone from getting out. In a random shooting,
the gunman wouldn't care if at the very least one person escaped; as long as it were a killing spree. This gunman
specifically trapped all of the people, supposedly immigrants, in the area.

I agree with the two above posters saying that video games won't be blamed, but OHHHH MY GOD, I just did a research paper and a speech on how and why video games (and the violence in them, as well as violent tv shows and movies) have little to no correlation to violence in real life. I can't fathom how people come to conclusions to connect the two, it's just bad taste. Entertainment meets reality, folks. They're not intertwined.

Anyway, I was relieved to find that these were nowhere near the niversity, since Aura and a few other friends of mine attend there, but seriously...people do some scary things when stuff doesn't go their way. I partially sympathize with him though...no one should be made fun of because of their inability to speak English or anything of that nature.

It just goes to show you that spreading positive behaviors and attitudes is a DEFINITE need in our society. This kind of stuff doesn't happen if people weren't such asses, jerks, and just plain morons sometimes. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families as well.
