I didn't know people actually valued this stuff, but...

My friend got a deck of boundaries crossed, lighting freeze or whatever it was called

It came in horrible condition: two half rounded cards and one pikachu with a whole entire triangle notch chopped out of it

Is that pikachu rare? It probaly is a one of a kind card which jammed the machine

Generally, it's a small minority of collectors that seek them out because they're unique, but it has to be a miscut that is verifiable as being a factory error, like the card sheets being misaligned or square edges, rather than a cut corner. As to values, it depends on the individual buyer dramatically more than it does general market rates, so I can't give you any prices for that.

Speaking of square edges, many cards in that deck did have pointy, square edges instead of rounded corners.

I know cheap stuff comes from wal mart, but I wouldn't expect pokemon cards to be sold like this. At least they were only part of a starter deck

Well, that's probably a factory error that might be unique to whatever run that deck was a part of. Wal-Mart has no control over how the cards actually look inside a sealed box.

Unfortunately, these types of slip-ups are pretty common in the Pokemon TCG compared to some other popular TCGs.
