    I'd say use a Pitch Bend event. If you're needing to change the pitch more than a whole step up or down, it will require a bit of testing, as you will have to adjust the bend range to properly hit the pitch you're looking for. As far as I'm aware, there's no other way of having a sustaining note change pitch.
