How do I make rival events?

I have my own rival character created , but I'd like to know how to creat his events, I mean, how to set him to appear in a particular moment, and to make him walk till he reaches the main character and start talking with him before the battle starts. Besides, I'd like that whenever he appears sounded a different song, like a specific song for the rival.

Could somebody explain to me the steps to make it?
