does it need a master code?
 
Erm..probably. I think the normal master code for the game should work.
 
Which code didn't work? The National Dex code or the Completed Dex code?
 
All codes need master code as far as I know... they are called "master code" for something. Check if you copy and pasted it wrong. 85% of the time a code fails because it's not typed in properly.
 
Okay, I left out some directions. Enter in the code, and check your Pokedex. If the background is silver/grayish then the code has worked. Simply press Select (while in the PokeDex), go to the 'Shift' section and in the 'Mode' option on the bottom, choose National. And then press OK. PRESS OK OR IT'LL STAY IN HOEN DEX.

does anyone have the national pokedex code, for gameshark sp?
