How do you remember the Advanced Generation?

i remember watching it every morning when i was in 5th grade. i kinda missed Misty though, she had that feeling with the gang. May was just out of place..

How I remember it?

I remember it as best darn series...Ever. No really, I consider it the best. Why?

Shipping reasons May is my favourite character. Therefore, everything she's in, is epic. The Pokemon were also awesome, the openings and endings were epic (Japanese wise), the intro to contests were unforgettable...

Pretty much, that.

I remember AG as the generation that got me back into Pokemon, after my liking for it died down during Johto. The storylines were something fresh to me at the time, with the introduction of Contests, and the Hoenn region was always pretty cool to me. Especially La Rousse, which was shown in that Deoxys movie.. that place was pretty beast. xD;

Plus there was May and Max, and May was so different from Misty. Max's character was different than anything that had been done prior, since no little kid had ever traveled with the group as a forth character before. There was also that Battle Frontier episode where Ash was possessed by that evil spirit. My gosh that episode got so much hype.. x_x fun stuff. I think that's what DP lacks.. none of the episodes have really sparked any huge discussions so far.

Actually I remember quite well, it wasn't even so long ago lol, I found it fun, funny that is.

This was revived when it shouldn't have been but I'm gonna go ahead and let it stay open 'cause discussion seems to have picked up where it left off fairly well.

I do not like Advanced Generation.

First, I was annoyed by the way in which it characterized the TRio. Eighty five percent of the time, Jessie was depicted as being entirely cold hearted, selfish, and dumb while James was shown as being Jessie's (and to a lesser extent Meowth's) angsty victim. Meowth took an even worse toll than the duo. Most of the time, all he did was have erotic fantasies about Giovanni. Though I like Meowth's Giovanni fantasies, he should have been scheming just as often as he was fantasizing about Giovanni.

I may dislike DP, but I am glad that its Japanese version has mostly steered clear from the way AG portrayed Jessie and James (they are still a mess in the dub). DP may have a couple of episodes that depict Jessie and James poorly (especially early DP), but there are not nearly as many as there were in AG. Unfortunately, Meowth is still characterized similarly to the way he was in AG.

Second, I disliked Contests. They are the equivalent of boring pet-shows that one can watch on TV. I am hoping that they will not be in Generation V, since they not only dragged down the quality of AG, but have also done the same to DP.

Third, I thought the storyline with Teams Aqua and Magma was rushed and poorly developed. Considering they are the major criminal organizations of Generation III, the plot surrounding them should have been better handled. I was happier with the way in which the anime handled the Team Galactic storyline. Even the Team Rocket storyline, which has yet to finish, is better than the Aqua and Magma story.

Fourth, I thought Ash and May's rivals (baring Harley in May's case) were bad characters. Morrison was obnoxious while Tyson was a bland Gary-Stu. Drew was an irritating Gary clone who just wanted to get into May's shorts. While we are on the subject, Contestshipping was aggravating. It was a cliched love-hate relationship in which the guy loves the girl but he mercilessly teases her and the girl loves the guy despite the fact that he is a jerk to her. Why people are so impressed with it is beyond me (then again, I cannot fathom why people like Pokeshipping, either. Still, unlike Ash and Misty, at least May and Drew were not abusive towards each other).

Fifth, I did not like how Ash went from being a hot-headed and arrogant idiot to a boring hero-boy. At least I could enjoy hating him in the original series. However, he was so stale in AG that I could not even feel that way towards him. The same applies for his character in DP, though I find him more tolerable there because of his relationship with Angie.

Sixth, I thought the vast majority of its filler episodes were awful. Many claim that all of Johto's fillers were bad, but Johto had just as many bad fillers as it did good ones. Only a few of AG's fillers were entertaining. Ninety five percent of them were insipid.

I don't remember it at all.

you see in my mind/pokemon fantasy world

-Ash and Misty are 16 and dating, they still travel together without brock
-Pikachu is now Raichu
-Charizard finnished his training and is a permanent member with Ash's team
-Squirtle and Bulbasaur are also back for good and are in there final evolved forms
-Paul does not exists Gary is still the rival (but there more friends now then anything)
-Dawn, Max, May don't exist because Dawn and Max just annoy me and may is way to developed for a 10 year old

and a few other reasons which i don't feel like explaning

I remember watching Hoenn episodes and thinking, "All May is is a Misty wannabe!I hate that girl! Pikachu, aim for her head!" To this day, no matter how hard I ty, I can't stop hating May. I struggled through the Advanced and Battle Dimension because I barely had a clue what contests were while watching DP and decided to catch up.

Ah, memories....

After the first few seasons with Ash, Misty, and Brock traveling through Kanto and the Orange Islands, I had only seen a handful of episodes from the Johto Arc every so often. When the Advanced Generation began, my likeness to the anime rekindled. It was different from when I had last seen it; including four travelers, a new twist being Contests, and a new region with new Pokémon [of course]. It was through seeing the first couple of episodes that I had gotten Ruby (my first game) only a short time after.

I wasn't at all upset that Misty had left. I mean why should I be? Misty was great, but like Brock she rarely did anything other than cheer on Ash and argue with him. When May came in the show, she got into Contests, grew rivals, and set a story for herself. To be honest, I felt May had more of an appeal to me than Misty did - reason being, May still remains to be my favorite Character. Plus, with her little brother Max around, it gave the group some brother/sister relation which some viewers could relate to, such as their arguing and spilling secrets to those who shouldn't know.

When it came time to the Battle Frontier, I had an even greater liking to it. Ash had the chance to use some of his older Pokémon from Kanto and Johto, plus May got to stick around longer. n_n Contests continued, and Ash ended up winning something at the end (finally). It's also the one arc which I felt sad that May was leaving. Misty, I was like, "Okay, that's fine," but I grew a stronger liking to May and her rivals in contests. When she made a cameo for the Wallace Cup in the DP Arc, I was relieved. I was glad to see her again in contests with some new Pokémon.

tl;dr The Advanced Generation rekindled my likeness to the anime. It also gave me a favorite character, a likeness to Pokémon Contests, and it changed the show around with an extra traveler and some added on twists from the original series. So, it was good and when I watch it back, I still enjoy it.

I liked it. Because it was aired before Power Rangers on CITV, I kept seeing bits. It got me interested in pokemon, so I got some cards, including a Torchic (yay!).

When I lost that, I was so annoyed, because May hadn't lost hers, I bought Pokemon Emerald to get one:P

So, my favourite generation of anime

For me it was the most memorable saga. I remember waking up early saturday mornings and singing along to the Pokemon Advance opening. And I loved it because it helped me appreciate the hoenn region.

And it was pretty epic seeing Pikachu learn iron tail :D
