How Does Shiny System Work?

I understand that you have a 1/4096 chance of a Pokemon being Shiny, but how does the game decide IF you get a Shiny Starter at 100,200,300 or even 1000 Soft Resets??

How is that Shiny determined?? Is it just like a Roulette wheel with 4096 Rowlet's on it, with one being shiny, and if the Roulette Wheel lands on the Shiny Rowlet, you get a shiny??

Or does it work like a Slot Machine??

Anyways, yes, how is the Shiny determined by the Game?? Because some get it at 10, some at 500, some over 1000. I get that its all about luck and blah blah blah, but thats not what I want to hear

1/4096 means that you have 1/4096 chance of getting one after each soft reset, you're welcome.

It's called the /Random/ Number Generator for a lot of reasons-- But for one, it IS random.

On the other hand, having things like the Shiny Charm increases the chances of getting shinies.

If it will make you feel better, whilst I managed to trade for a lot of shinies, I've only seen a Shiny Stantler in Pokemon Gold and did not get to catch it due to the lack of Pokeballs, and once in my Alpha Sapphire, a Shiny Gloom earlier this year whom I caught. But I aren't even tried.

Whenever you encounter a Pokemon or receive an egg, the Random Number Generator calculates various qualities of the Pokemon. Ability, nature, IVs, and shinyness are all determined completely randomly. So, soft resetting for a shiny starter won't need you to do it exactly 4,000 times.

In addition to this, there was also a Shiny Trainer value in XY. I don't know if it's in this, but if it is, the rng has to match up with that number for a shiny to appear. So it is sort of like a slot machine.
