How many webmasters actually submit their sites to the open directory project at www.dmoz.org ? I am wondering because I am an Open Directory Project ontologist.

I have visited that site before. I may have submitted, but I'm not sure.

If you haven't you should. It is excellent publicity and gets your site in the next conversion for the Open Thumbshots Project

Well, it is big - at this time there are 4,398,371 sites, 63,500 editors, and over 590,000 categories

It musn't be that good if people haven't heard of it.
Many people haven't heard of it but it is used by many popular search engines such as Google's Directory.

My site comes up on Google when you search most things about Pokemon.. so it doesn't worry me about having to submit it to those engines.

I think I tried at one time...not sure if I was accepted.

PPN is listed there... but it's not that relevent a directory.. best to get direct hits from Google, Yahoo, and MSN

yeah... your site is... kinda... dead... it could have potential tho, sakura...

Was that just for an extra post or something?.. because that really doesn't have anything to do with this... *Cough*.

Anyway, Sakura... i'm sure with some work you could make it better

I've submitted my Digimon, but it changed URL and I need to put in the new URL.

ah - well the idea behind this topic is simple - my SOTW utilizes the open thumbshots program at www.thumbshots.org and it relies on the odp. As such, I am making it known that submitting your site to the odp will help everyone who uses the odp's (and open thumbshots' too) data.

Never heard of it... never submitted to it...

Don't care to either.

You can easily create thumbnails of the information located in your browser's display area by using a screen capture program. There are many out there. The one I have lets me capture any region, frame, window, et cetera, and then gives me PhotoShop-like features to edit the image.

The attached example took all of two seconds:
