How much longer do you guys think the anime will last? I give it one or two more seasons.

I think it'll definitely last longer. The probability for a fifth generation is pretty good. It's not like Pokemon has been failing economically lately or anything. Besides, the arcs with Dawn will be atleast two more seasons.

Maybe the games, but the Anime is a different story. I mean, a friend of mine had researched ratings in Japan in regards to the DP series, and it seems as if it's doing badly.

Besides, we don't have any real confirmation that the Anime is going to have a 5th Generation, much less the games (Before anyone mentions Hidaka, let me point out that he also didn't know that Platinum was in development despite being confirmed over a few months by Corocoro [not to mention Corocoro going into the detail process of the development.], AND Giratina and Shaymin's alt formes debuting in a certain Pokemon movie that was released slightly before the interview, so his statement about 5th gens doesn't count.)

It wasn't doing very well in the Johto era either and look where we are now. As long as the games exist, the anime will probably exist as well.

Its probably gonna last about 4-5 more years IMO

You're completely delusional if you think there won't be a 5th gen of the games. Platinum broke sales records in Japan, D/P sold extremely well, the movies are box office smashes.

Arguably, the anime can still do it's job of promoting the games even with relatively low ratings...though I've yet to see a source of these horrible ratings.

And really, the anime's sole role is to promote the games. Even with horrible ratings, it's still doing it's job. Pokemon Sunday's cast has been appearing on Ranch, for example, and I have no real reason to believe your "friend" who researches it, rather than an actual company who keeps track of ratings.

Who knows? Maybe the economy would be so bad that there's no way Gamefreak could make another 5th Gen. Pokémon game, but it's just a possibility.

Anyways, I would like to see the new Pokémons that would appear in the 5th Gen. Pokémon game.

However, I'll say that it isn't over for Pokémon.. not just yet.

What about FOREVER?! XD jkjk, I was bored.

I think it would last for around 4-5 years. I mean, the economy isn't that bad, and kids actually LOVE it. And Pokemon has thousands of pages and forums for it.

Let's just say it'd wear off somehow. But Pokemon would last long. VERY long.

It won't end until the games stop, I think

You keep saying this but you don't give any proof. You should at least show the stats for every single season so we can compare. But even then, it'll be obvious that the first few seasons will have the best ratings because it was new and it was a fad at the time, so it'll gradually be going lower and lower until it becomes more steady, probably through the first few seasons.

Actually, this friend hinted that Johto, ratings wise, actually did much better than DP, OR AG.

Nickstr got them from here: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-14/japanese-anime-tv-ranking-december-1-7.

Another thing, dropping from 8.8% to 5.5% is not a "Gradual" decrease. In fact, it's more like a sharp decrease.

As for the Pokemon Games continuing if the Anime continues, that's not necessarily the case. If I must point out, The Legend of Zelda was ultimately no different from Pokemon when it was first released in the states, even having it's own TV show. However, even when the TV show ended, the Zelda Franchise didn't die with it.

Can you, uh I don't know, get more current ratings. Three month old ratings don't show anything about what's happening now, now is it? Or at least stop using the same exact ratings every.time.you.make.your.point.

I think Pokemon will go on for a fairly long time.

I have to agree. When you have the people ho like Pokemon, and then they start watching, its to late to cancel, because now 6 year olds are watching, and by the time they get to High School and stop watching, there are new 6 year olds, and etc., etc.

Wait, where does it say there was a drop? Where was it 8.8% and 5.5%? It says 6 there. Anyway, it seems quite good for a children's show for under 10's going for about 11 years to be in the top 10 watched anime every single week. I mean, Naruto's supposed to be quite popular, isn't it? (don't kill me if I'm wrong XD) but look here https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-03-02/japanese-anime-tv-ranking-february-2-8 Pokemon is above it. It can't be doing that badly.

Why did your friend "hint" at Johto being better rather than just saying the stats...? It's a pretty weird thing to say o.O

It will last until the games stop due to the fact that it's just an advertisement. I thought we went through this already.

Look at Bleach in Japan. It's quite unpopular and low ratings wise and still continues. Of course, we all forget that Pokémon constantly gets into the Top 10 constantly in Japan unlike Bleach and Naruto Shippuden, which doesn't air in America anymore.

Yeah... I don't really buy that, considering how DP is low right now.

Anyways, it's probably going to take some time for me to get actual statistics.

    EDIT:

So, I guess Zelda should have just ended at "The Adventure of Link" due to the TV show being cancelled, right? Because, by that token, it should have. Also, the Anime is just barely in the Top 10.

Also, Nickstr got the 8.8 and 5.5 from I think the Anime ratings on Pokeani.

So you've been saying that DP gets really low ratings compared to everything else over and over again despite the fact you don't even know if it's true...?

Let's not forget that Pokemon isn't your run-of-the-mill show based off a videogame. It doesn't just go for a season or two and then end. If the people working on the franchise didn't think the show was that important, they would've ended it with the Indigo League, as originally intended. At the very least, they would stop making a new movie every year.

I honestly think that as long as there are new videogames, the show will keep going.

I never said that the games would be canceled, I said it advertises the games and will stop when the games stop.

Also, it may barely get there but it's still there regardless.

Exactly. And on top of that, it's more than likely that we'll have a new game in a year or two. That means a new region, new Pokemon, and one or two new seasons of the anime. The games aren't going to stop being made any time soon; look at the sales ratings.

I think we can safely say that the anime isn't about to disappear into nothingness.
