Two things in this thread annoy me, the "Game Freak is running out of ideas" argument that has been around since second gen, and the debate on "good" or "bad" aesthetics are completely subjective. I love the new 3D models, and many of the new pokemon are really cool. In the past, designs had to be kept simple due to screen resolutions and they were seriously lacking in aesthetics back then, so the only real debate could be "does the increased amount of details improve the aesthetics in your opinion?"

The answer for me is yes. 100% yes, all the pokemon look a lot better now that they have the freedom to add in a lot of details and quirks to them, like Sableye's twitching, Raichu being more proportional in size, Goodra being a total psych out. Is it poison or is it dragon? Gotta remember it's not both of those. Some of the megas didn't get enough changes to their appearance, but that's still just opinion, I think Gardevoir got totally robbed on the aesthetics for the mega. Florges looks beautiful, I love my Talonflame simply for how she looks, Malamar is both a psych out and really cool. I am also glad they are slowing down on adding more, makes completing the dex for this gen a lot easier than I had feared.

Relax no one is saying that it's a fact that the new Pokemon look bad. As you said it's all subjective, but keep in mind that goes for negative opinions too. You can't just expect everyone to like all the new Pokemon, that would be unrealistic. You said that you don't like people saying gamefreak are running out of ideas, but believe it or not some people genuinely do feel that way. And not everyone has been saying that since Gen 2. The second generation is my favorite of all of them. I'm sure some people feel that way but you can't lump everybody into the same group. And even if someone thinks every generation sucks except for the first. They have every right to their opinion.

Also when I say "aesthetically", I don't mean how good all the Pokemon look on the 3DS. I'm purely talking about their designs. In other words you could use the games or the anime as a reference point because we're not talking about graphics. Most Pokemon from previous generations have kept their original designs, they just look better in each generation because the technology keeps improving.

Overall I do like most of the new designs.

I'm not crazy about Litleo or Aromatisse. Swirlix is a bit meh too and Florges didn't give the best first impression. (Although I appreciate her more now, especially her shiny form)

So I voted 75% even though that's a little low.

As a Bug and Grass pokemon trainer, i m kinda surprised they didnt make a Bug/Dragon or a Grass/Dragon yet..... (instead it seems they made an absurd thing like Fire/Water lol)

I counted out of this list, and decided I like about 17/69 of them, which is almost 25%.

I also really didn't like Klefki, but I just dislike Pokemon based on man-made objects in general (yes, even the Gen. I ones).

Not a fan of the starters or any of their evolutions. I liked Fennekin until I found it becomes bipedal and grows a dress mage's robe as it evolves, and Greninja looks pretty cool, but I have a problem with the fact that his scarf is his tongue.

I thought I was the only one that didn't like Goomy. :P I just find the whole goo dragon line very strange and unappealing. "Goo" is kind of a broad term and I'm uncomfortable with not knowing what this apparent slime is.

There aren't any outstandingly good 6th Gen. Pokemon to me design-wise, but I liked the fossil Pokemon, Xerneas, Yveltal, Fennekin on its own and Vivillon, to name a few.

..I'm gonna stop there, not going to give my opinion on all 69 new Pokemon. :P So yeah, 25% for me as well.

I chose 75 percent. I like most of the new pokemon( I don't know what's new or not because I'm new), but some aren't the best. Scizor was cooler in its non mega form. Slurpluff is funny looking and needs more love. Vivillon is my favorite. It is good battling and in looks. Most of the megas are awesome! I use mega blastoise the most. I like Litleo and it's evolutions, the starters are good, and I like the fairy type.

I love almost all the new Pokemon I have to admit (a lot of newer gens often won me over design-wise) and the only Kalos Pokemon I never liked the appearance of were Avalugg (although Bergmite is adorable), Binacle line and Diggersby (I feel sad adorable Bunnelby evolves into this crappy bunny) but everything else is good. I also think the RPG theme with the starters was pretty cool.

Wtf are you talking about? Muk was FREAKING AWESOME. It is a poison type sludge pokemon. I don't know how they could have designed a sludge pokemon to look any cooler. Consider what they were going for before you rate that design as bad.

Seel. Bleh.

Kingler is pretty good for a crab. It looked cooler first gen (on Red version) before they made one of its pincers puny.

I didn't say I personally rate it as a bad design. I was saying most other people understandably do because it's a pile of sludge. They usually bring up the simple Pokémon from Gen 1 as some kind of argument.

I was waiting for a thread like this to come up and I do agree that a Pokemon's design is just as important (or more so, for some people) as its competitive value. Most people who love Espeon, if you were to ask them why, the first thing they would probably say would be "it looks so darn cute <3" and then they would say "oh, it also has the Magic Bounce ability, which is really good". Likewise, Gyarados fans would just say "It's a friggin' sea dragon!".
That being said, I do like at least 50% of the Gen 6 Pokemon designs. There were some I loved from the moment they were revealed, like Noivern, Doublade, Pyroar, Tyrantrum and then there were some I didn't really get until I first saw them in-game. For example, when I first saw Aegislash, I was like "Why does its shield have ears?", but in-game I realised that those "ears" were actually his hands that he just has crossed behind his back while he fights, like some kind of snobbish nobleman.
There are some Gen 6 Pokemon I don't really care for, like Goodra, Trevenant, Gourgeist, Sylveon, but I can see why other people might really like those. Except for Barbaracle. If you like Barbaracle, you are not well. Seriously, it's like they made this thing so people would stop complaining about Gen 5's designs (which by the way are awesome, so please everyone stop picking on Gen 5).
Overall, I'd say:
Gen 3 > Gen 1 > Gen 5 > Gen 6 > Gen 2 > Gen 4
Again, this comparison is based on designs alone.
