I was motivated to do this tutorial, noting that several people ask how three [/ S] how to use the program, and I decided to do it, to see the post of White, right here:
Aseprite (V.1.2.10 - Beta) - Program to Create Sprites Easily - Free
Start options
If you want to make a Sprite, do it, put the Pokémon in the first layer, adjust the size, create a second layer, and let yourself go! It's all the explanation you need to create a STATIC sprite . What? What came here to learn to animate them?
Well, in the case of wanting to animate them, let's continue.
Steps
Step 1: Divide the Pokémon in its body parts.
WHAT? Yes, as you read, divide them. For this, we will need to draw every part of the body that you want to move, in different layers, and yes, that's why you saw so many layers in the previous explanation , It would be something like this:
See how poor Dunsparce is all divided?
Well, the parts of the body that will move separately, should be placed in separate layers.
Step 2: Create another Frame.
This is simple, just touch Alt + N (without the +) and the previous frame will be copied. Just move / rotate a bit the body part you want to animate and go. To turn one, just touch Ctrl + T and put the RotSprite in the options above, and the pivot where is the articulation of the area that we want to rotate, I mean, if it is the head, where the neck is.
If you do not see the pivot, do not worry, turn the image a bit and go.
I recommend you to make 2 equal frames and then a new one, that is, changed. Before doing something, they should be 7 or 8 equal frames.
Step 3: Go seeing each more or less 7 frames as the animation is left and remember that the Pokémon do a "little dance" 5 times and then have a special animation, in the case of the Magnemite before, The "little dance" is to move the magnets and go up and down a bit, while the special animation is the electricity that goes through its body.
Shortcuts
There are numerous keyboard shortcuts, with which we can access several features quickly and easily. Take this section as an "extra".
Ctrl + N : Create a new sprite
Here are options such as: Size in pixels, color mode (RGB is normal, GRAYSCALE is black and white, INDEXED is to keep track of the colors of the sprite, very useful when making Shinies) and the background (transparent, white or black)
Shift + N : Create a new layer
That's it, create a new layer and now, nothing great.
Alt + N : Create a new Frame
If you paid attention, in previous images, there were only 92 frames, but now there are 93. r goin' 2 review :p
This adds a frame exactly like the previous one. For the animation to be like that of BW, you have to modify one frame in half.
Ctrl + P : Sprite properties
This displays the properties of the sprite that did not know about its existence and we can appreciate the following options:
This displays the layer properties, such as changing the name, the mode (I'll explain later) and the opacity (to make it more or less transparent, recommended for insect wings or smoke).
Ctrl + C : Copy selected
Shift + C : Centers the image
Alt + C : Delete a frame
Ctrl + V : Paste what was copied
Shift + V : Rotate the layer vertically
Alt + V : Open the view tab
With that would be everything! If you think it is necessary to explain something else, I will edit the post to add it, but ask for it nicely.

This displays the properties of the sprite
- Name and location of the file
- Type of color
- Size (in pixels) and weight
- Number of frames or Frames of the file
- Transparent color (used for indexed images, usually for ROMHacking)
- Pixel shape, if you want the pixel to be normal, wider than high or higher than wide (no idea why they will use it)
This displays the layer properties, such as changing the name, the mode (I'll explain later) and the opacity (to make it more or less transparent, recommended for insect wings or smoke).
