4th Gen How to get a trader to obey?!

    I have recieved my fav Pokemon Houndour from a friend. He is naughty in nature, I got him at lv. 1 but he is lv. 16 now. I have one badge.

    But the thing is he seems to love to just ignore me or use like smog instead of ember. And it really irritates me that he won't listen. What are some ways that you all have gotten your traded pokemon to obey and listen? Would feeding him poffin help? If so, what can I do this early in the game since I can't make poffin?
     
    Retrade your Houndour for a Houndour Egg so it will have your ID no. and obey you no matter what. That's how I got my Cyndaquil, from an egg.
     
    Is that something that just happened in D/P? Because in FR, I had my Charmeleon on Lv. 30 before I beat Misty and it obeyed. Pokemon with your ID No. are supposed to obey you no matter what. Only those with a different ID need badges to obey.

    Really? I always thought it was for all Pokemon. Oh well. But for traded Pokemon, you still need the badges.
     
    yea.. it's for ones that aren't yours....

    I know where you're coming from, dude... I gave my friend some eggs in the beginning of the game... they were obviously annoying to hatch without a bike... but you know the deal.
     
    No!! Your starter will always obey you, but any pokemon above your obedience level won't.

    No. Any PKMN w/ ur OT will obey you. If you migrate a PKMN from an older game, but if you have the same OT, they shall obey.
     
    Mind if I settle this?

    As Mega said, any pokemon with your original ID# will obey you without question. If you trade with someone who ironically has the same ID#, it shoud obey, in theory, at least.

    Anything outside your ID#, you will need the right badge. Even if you did an ingame trade.

    just rebreed for an egg, you can get a better nature too that way

    I'd imagine it would only obey if the Secret ID were the same too, and possibly the OT (probably all three).
     
    Oh yes, almosdt forgot the OT. The possibilites of having all three are astronomical.

    But we can all agree, if you get it in a trade, & you don't have enough badges, they will disobey.

    no, I had a Chikorita, a Cyndaquil and a Totodile, the three of them with the same OTs, but different IDs, and Chikorita and Totodile (outsiders) didn't listen to me 'til I got the Lavender Gym Badge (it was on PKMN GOLD)
     
    i also thought it was for all pokemon as well. as long as your OT and ID number are the same, those pokemon shall obey. as for Badges:
    0-1 badges - lv. 10
    2-3 badges - lv. 30
    4-5 badges - lv. 50
    6-7 badges - lv. 70
    8 badges - ALL
     
    Yesh, for a traded POkemon you will definately need more badges...
