How to write a script to check if item used?

Hi there i am was working on a on my first hack rom. While working on this rom according to my storyline i have to write a script that will check if player used a certain item during battle. The reason i have to do this is i am going to put z moves in my rom so i actually want to write script if player used z ring from key items poket so please if anyone can help me leaves a comment down
