I'm hoping this is the best place for this post. I thought Bout posting a question in support/help for where I should post this, but didn't wanna waste peoples' time there, and since it mentions fangames, though minor, it also discouraged me from asking. So I decided to look around on my own first. I got to writing and almost posted there, but that's mostly like talking about writing itself, like storytelling and novels, etc. And asking questions or giving advice, etc about writing.
Which I honestly could elevate part of this to (You'll see) and I'm considering doing so at a later date. Not any time soon, I don't think. Decided to keep moving and look around a bit more, found this area. And I hope you'll all tolerate my long long post here 😅🙏🏽
So just like fair warning...I started off writing this in response to a comment on a video, didn't even mean for it to get as long as it did, it was all improv, but I capitalized off that passion and creativity and just let myself get inspired and my pen flow, whilst trying to keep up with my mind racing lol.
And I have NOT proofread, so I apologize if the formatting leaves something to be desired, tho it does jump here and there or go back to previous things occasionally, I tried to make it work in the short time that I came up with this and tried to speed through it to the end wherever it was going to be haha.
But I will maybe and I mean a big big maybe, go and edit it a bit.
The comment was too long for YT. So I decided I'd put it down in my notes and save it, see what Pokécommunity thinks or has to say about it? Regardless of what anyone thinks tho, I still think it's a fire idea and I was COOKING 😉🍳🍜🔥🔥🔥
And I do not remember the rules for posting art atm, so I'm just gonna refrain from that. I try to paint a bit of a picture with them but I'm not claiming it to be perfect. (And I just realized, Idk what the name of the certain Beta Gold Pokémon was, and the name I went with was likely just a nickname I gave to mine in a romhack. All I have atm is a screenshot from my run. But either way! It works (:
Also don't wanna ask anyone to draw something I just came up with on a whim haha. Especially because I can't commission anyone atm.
And I personally am against AI art, so while I wouldn't and can't force anyone, I ask that you NOT take these ideas and plug them into AI. Thanks for understanding!!
For reference of at least the first one, you could look up "Pokémon Gold Beta" plus the two types of the first evolution (:
So without wasting tooo much more time, this is my idea for a couple of branched regional evolutions of a very old and classic Pokémon most people should know, but might have forgotten! This was spurred by the great GF leak, so take (the leaked info itself at least) with a grain of salt.
Alright alright. Here we go haha
Water/Fairy Regional Dewgong... Hmm... Scrapped potentially due to sharing a typing with Primarina. Tho imo... they should've kept it. But since they didn't, it opens the door for them to do regional variant + Dewgong evolution, if they want to. Which I hope they do soon. But with these leaks coming out, if they were by some small chance going to make one at some point, I feel this just cut that likelihood down to 1% of the already low chances it had. It's not exactly a fan-favorite either.. To me, considering the simple style Gen 1 has, or even Gen 2 to a lesser extent, and I wanna say up to Gen 4 but like it decreases as it goes from 1 to 4.. Basically, I don't have any problems with it and never did. I think it's pretty 'alright' (: Starts off as derpy cute as a Seel, then gets a bit less derpy-looking.
If they did evolve it, it would be THE PERFECT opportunity, to bring back the water/fire type Meteorseel from the Gold (spaceworld?) Beta. It's literally a seal, too. Tweak it a little bit and make it the final evolution for a Fire-type Seel and Dewgong, which are still somehow able to be in the water, but prefer warm water over cold, except they can turn cold to heat inside their body, in a similar way to Frigibax doing the opposite. Run-on sentence. My b. But you get it.
Have it be orange and white to start off, maybe look like spotted? Then it can evolve to be more orange than white versus Seel, as a Dewgong. And here's an interesting twist. Have it become 1 of two evolutions. Meteorseel (idk what else the name could be tbh, but I like that one and I think it'd be fine. What else could it be? switch it around to Seleor? Like Seal+Meteor+Leopard (Have it be a leopard seal.) And only one e at the start to make it look more like "Meteor" lol. Literally just switching out the two letters. And it'd be Fire/Water, more focused on Special Attack and Speed, with good Defense. (Think Armorouge, but much quicker)
[FTR, I know they don't necessarily think this way when making Pokémon. Because they are a Japanese company obviously, I'm just sayin like that's how they could "translate" it. Localize is more like it though tbh.]
2nd option as an alternative would be evolving into a killer whale. Name could be Meteorca. Look for the most part like an Orca, but be like a sunset-tinted burnt red & silver, instead of black & white. It looks good in my head alright 😅 And have some spikes, a horn that would be more long and sharp as a female, but blunt as a male while a tiny bit shorter. Like Nidoking & Nidoqueen but genders reversed.
This one would be Fire/Dragon, but maybe have an ability that adds the Water-type to it? Shouldn't effect it in terms of weaknesses too much, thanks to the Dragon type. Like Electric would hit neutrally, similar to fairy bc of the fire type. still resists grass, just not as much. It'd be a very heavy hitter, so.. High Attack, decent Defense, but higher in Special Defense, very low Speed (but I'll address that. Maybe. Okay, scratch that, I went a different route lol.), and then ofc high HP for tanking. Special Attack would be an actual dump stat, with like base 10 (because it can't just be 0 I guess....) while Seleor's dump stat would be Attack, at like... 60 I guess? If you want it to use some certain physical moves for whatever reason, coverage or whatever, and it'd have less HP, with Sp. Def being it's 2nd lowest stat probably, so it can actually afford that 60 Attack, or maybe even tie the two at 60, give or take 5 to 10? Anyway...
Onto the moves and abilities. Seleor would get Lightningrod/Volt Absorb and Swift Swim, then it's Hidden Ability could be Blaze, or a signature ability called Grounded which would cut damage from Electric attacks, and raise sp. attack AND speed by 1 stage when hit by an electric attack. Would be very hard to obtain. Reasoning for the anti-lightning abilities is the way Seleor's body works (turning cold to heat remember?), and due to evolution from always being prey to electric types, or just to set itself apart more from regular Kantonian Dewgong. It is able to take that energy and use it to its advantage!
It would get more water moves in it's movepool, but there'd be some it just can't use, straight-up like Muddy Water, Bubblebeam, Water Pulse, Hydro Pump... Sorry. But it could use Surf, Soak and OFC Scald. Signature move is a fire type attack it gets upon evolving at any level from 42 and onwards, called: Boiling Point. 110 power, 80 accuracy, 30% chance to burn, 30% chance to crit, and it will never miss against water types unless they use Protect/Fly, etc.. But if they're diving or using dig, it does double damage ON TOP of the extra 50% damage it does to those water type foes. The only downside is that it hits all Pokémon around it, so in double battles, you'd have to be strategic about it. The only thing is that it won't crit allies. And it does require 1 turn to charge. Might as well balance it a lil bit. Hopefully you don't miss after wasting a turn to charge it up 💀 Oh and it does also get moves like Mist and Will-o-Wisp in its earlier stages, but only one attacking move: Aqua Tail, at Lv35 as a Dewgong. I think Flamethrower and Hyper Beam make up for it tho. As a Seleor, some stronger moves it gets are Flare Blitz, Surf, Fire Blast (which it can get at level 47 or 50 instead of 55 if you're patient!) Otherwise, the weaker (bc low attack, and recoil) Flare Blitz is learned by Seleor at Lv45! It can also learn both Rain Dance and Sunny Day only in its final stage. It learns Rain Dance and Soak upon evolving, so you can use some strategy and be a real setup sweeper with the Boiling Point! Sunny Day is learned at Lv60! That's all for Seleor I think!
Onto...
Meteorca! So I already mentioned one ability... It'd be called... Water Boost! Adds on Water type as a tertiary type, AND turns normal type attacks to Water-type attacks, but they just have the regular 50% power boost. Second ability would be Rock Head, so it can use Flare Blitz and Double Edge with all of the benefits, and none of the downsides! Plus a new water-type move I am deciding to give it as a signature. I will explain later! Moxie could be another regular ability that it gets!
I think that Freeze-Dry, funnily enough, would actually be neutral against it if it had Water Boost hahaha, because ice move strong against water, also strong against dragon, but weak against fire? Oh wait nope. It'd be super-effective! The only actual non-rock/ground move that is super-effective against it! Strategy!!! So it still wouldn't be without its weaknesses while having that ability (:
Final ability, a hidden ability! Draconic Bully! it boosts all of its moves that make contact, whether physical or special, by 40%! But if it outweighs any of its opponents on the field (like in a double or triple battle, even rotation battles!) it skyrockets to a 75% boost with secondary effects' chance of activating being doubled! On top of that, it has a hidden mechanic. At the end of the description, it says "It fears only 1 [Pokémon]" Not entirely sure if it would fit with the other stuff if the term Pokémon was included in there. I don't think it's needed, it's pretty self-explanatory, while vague ofc. They'd find a way though.
You may or may not have guessed by now that the one it fears is...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
Palafin.
If it's up against a Finizen (not that it really matters, buut) Instead of the 75% boost that it normally gets when outweighing an opponent, it is just fully doubled. Wouldn't be discovered thru normal gameplay I'm guessing, just due to there being no reason to have a Finizen over Palafin in those higher levels and deeper areas, like Eviolite just doesn't compare. So if it hits a Finizen, and knocks it out (which it will) it gives a message like "Meteorca is feeling powerful" lolz. Dewgong evolves into Meteorca at like Lv50 or higher btw, only if it's Attack has maximum EVs and at least an IV of 25. Looks like you gotta grind.
That's why i say this would likely never happen, maybe in a Wi-Fi/link battle with a friend or something lol. Or if you take your Meteorca into the wild to "bully" some Finizens. Be careful though. I hear that inspires certain heroic Pokémon to appear!
So if you DO decide to take Meteorca and bully hordes of innocent Finizens, don't be surprised if one of them looks a little different... you'll know when the battle starts, because it will say "You are challenged by a wild Palafin!" after which, it will transform! (The only way to actually see the transformation) Also, similar to shinies, or mostly like when your Pokémon has low health/a type disadvantage, and gets scared, Meteorca does that too. Funny for such a huge menacing Pokémon, right? So you have to either initiate battle, or let the Palafin come to you. It will. I guarantee you.
(Side note!!! In ANY battle, if a Palafin in base form is sent in against your Meteorca, or your Meteorca is sent in against one, it will shake visibly, and give a message saying "Meteorca just shivered for some reason" It won't trigger in the above scenario though.)
Upon this happening, Meteorca will get an effect showing it's stats being lowered and it'll be a black color (the effect will be I mean) and it will say "Meteorca cowered in fear against the hero! It's ability was neutralized!" (This is all only if it has its Hidden Ability: Draconic Bully, to clarify.)
And every turn that it's in combat against a transformed Palafin, one random stat will drop at the START of each turn. I was initially going to say Hero Palafin's water-type attacks would be super-effective, but I think that's overkill honestly, like Meteorca is already heavily nerfed against it lmao. Plus Wave Crash and stuff are already very strong, plus the priority Jet Punch being respectable in power for a priority move, especially with STAB.
While I like the chemistry and interaction here, the point is for them to be rivals and stuff, rather than Palafin just straight up dominating Meteorca. That's why neither have moves that are super-effective against each other either. I debated giving the fang moves to Meteorca, but decided against it overall. But it still learns a similar move which you shall see soon!
I think it's fair, since Palafin gets no second ability after it's transformation, and all. Especially since Meteorca's base stat total would be equal to Hero Palafin's, just distributed differently. It'd have the high defense, but sp. def would be higher I wanna say. Or maybe equal. Just for physical threats, MOSTLY Palafin.
That's pretty much it for their interactions though. Well I lied. One other one. On occasion, a Palafin in it's Hero form will fly at YOU at superspeed, when you're having your Meteorca bully Finizens. So that even if it's auto-battling, an actual battle is still triggered, with the same message as before, except it will always be transformed already.
Oh and Palafins you encounter this way have an increased chance of being shiny! As well as better IVs AND a select few EV spreads and natures which make it a more fearsome opponent. For Natures, it will mostly be boosting Attack or Defense. Rarely Speed, since it doesn't need it. Meteorca is slow, but it's there just in case. And for EV spreads, mostly it goes for attack and defense and hp, but can build on the other 3 stats, just not a whole lot. Like you could get one with 252 HP and 252 Def, with 10 in Atk, lol. or max Atk and HP, with some Defense, or equally distributed in all 3, maybe some where it's got maybe 40 in Sp. Def and 50 in Speed, maxed Attack and then whatever else. Mostly random out of all the sets, some preprogrammed, some random but with smart AI influence. It'd be a great method for shiny hunting Palafins! But definitely hard!
It would also trigger a secret mechanic to Palafin's ability, so I take back what I said about the no secondary thing. It would be like this "Palafin felt a great sense of justice to protect the innocent [who cannot defend themselves]! [It's attack rose! / All of it's stats increased by 1!] (?) It's overwhelming aura locked [the villain/it's archnemesis] Meteorca into battle to prevent it from fleeing!"
Triggers in any of the aforementioned scenarios, when it is transformed and at the start of the battle/turn.
It would work in other battles too, against NPCs, rivals, elite four, champion, in WiFi and VGC, Battle Tower and Battle Frontier type modes, etc etc. But again, Meteorca HAS to have its Hidden Ability for ANY of this to work.
I'm almost done, I promise. (For better or for worse, haha. Maybe some of yall are invested, maybe some fans of Palafin and/or Dewgong in the house? IDK lol)
Last last final thing, it's moves. I'm not really sure on this. I think typical physical bruiser-class Pokémons' moves go without saying. Already listed some earlier. But then another one, could be a signature, could not? I'll say it's a signature so I can make it more unique and strong, haha!
Oceanic Rush: 140 Power, 90 Accuracy. Always hits in the rain, or when in water landscape, even against flying type opponents or opponents who are currently airborne from using the move Fly. It can jump super high after building up tons of speed in the water, that's the explanation. May even be part of the description? Anyways it also has a 50% to paralyze the opponent AND itself, but they are not dependent on each other. You can paralyze the foe without getting paralyzed, opposite can also happen. It does have recoil damage, equal to 1/3 of Meteorca's CURRENT Health. So you can technically use it more than 3 times without dying if you want. And in the rain, this move ALWAYS gets priority. I'm not a Pokémon VGC or Smogon genius, so Idk how that would work exactly. I'll just say it goes before everything that isn't protect, including Gale Wings shenanigans, Quick Claw, etc. And while it can hit foes who used Fly, it won't hit Shadow Force/Phantom Force, Dig, or Dive (unless you are in water, then it only makes sense to hit a Diving foe. You can argue they're good at staying hidden but whatev). I'm pretty happy with it. Decent balance imo, while still making this thing an actual threat. You'll pay for sleeping on the Seel line!!! Don't underestimate these 2 evolutions!
The priority part of this can help make up for its very low speed, like I said earlier. So I DIDN'T lie :p
It can learn most water-type non-signature attacks as well, plus many fire moves except for fire fang, fire punch.. It CAN learn Overheat tho. and Fire Blast, but not Flamethrower. Learns Dragonbreath, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Rush, Dragon Tail, Twister, Crushing Jaw (phsyical dragon move, same as the elemental fang attacks, but instead of burning, etc, it just has a chance to lower defense, like Crunch does. Flinching as well, tho Meteorca won't always make good use of this bc of its low Speed stat, unless you have Quick Claw or something equipped.
No Dragon Claw ofc since it has no claws, just flippers lol.
It gets moves like Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, Focus Blast, Agility, Bulk Up, and Rain Dance ofc to help with Oceanic Rush. Pursuit is another one. Oh Dragon Dance, Sunny Day, Whirlpool and Fire Spin would be moves it learns somehow as well. Maybe Dragon Dance and Oceanic Rush would be when it evolves?
Well that wraps this thing up!
P.S. One last thing I forgot to mention! Palafin will be EXACTLY whatever level your Meteorca is, whether it's Lv50, just barely evolved, or Lv100. So be prepared to face a Lv100 intelligent AI Hero Palafin if you're gonna go this path :3
And yes, everything that increases shiny odds, whether it's the Shiny Charm, or Shiny Power Water meals, they stack. I think at base, it should be 10x the base Shiny odds.
But you can't catch it until you defeat it though. If you black out (You only get to use your Meteorca, and if it is KO'ed, Palafin will take its victory and flee the battle immediately.) you get another opportunity to face it. Everything else about it will change again, but it will be in the same exact location as long as you save the game, even if you reset, and will remain Shiny.
Let me know your thoughts, if any, anyone. I would appreciate it. Thank you (: Thanks for reading and I hope I kept you entertained! BYE!!!
(Apologies if I get responses and you guys wonder why I'm not responding. It's not personal, it's just late, nd it's dinner time now, then I'll probably game a bit and go night night 😴🌙 And well I'm not incredibly active. I'm on and off, bc life and I have so so many hobbies, backlogs of both games and anime, Nd books even! that it's hard to keep up! haha And my Netflix list which I'm losing faith that I'll see the end of >.<*)
And Idk what tags would go with this. I'm new btw! 😊👋🏽
So if anyone can suggest any or (unless it's not possible to add any after posting, then...) if a mod can edit some in, I would definitely appreciate that!
(I just have OCD, that's all lol. So I don't wanna mess anything up by going crazy adding a bunch of tags that it could be without)
P.S.S. (Ik this is already super duper extra long but I didn't wanna double post, if replying to my own post counts? Maybe I should have asked. Oh well! ^_^ )
I would love to see this in a Romhack one day.. Preferably like a Gen 3 (Emerald one) that isn't heavy on Fakemon, but maybe more similar to how Altair/Sirius, Vega, Procyon/Deneb are with adding evolutions and such to existing Pokémon, tho yes I know those have many original designs, many of which I actually love! And could see being in an actual, official Pokémon game!
Or stuff like Insurgence with their Delta Pokémon, but not going crazy with Fakemon either, if any (Idk of any)
Unfortunately I am not versed in romhacking, spriting or anything else necessary for a romhack, and it's not something I'm interested in. But I can dream, right? I doubt anything like what my post is about has been implemented in one either, I'm sure I would have seen it lol.
And having it in a barebones or vanilla Fire Red or Emerald hack would just not be doing it justice imo.
𝒻𝒾𝓃.

And having it in a barebones or vanilla Fire Red or Emerald hack would just not be doing it justice imo.
𝒻𝒾𝓃.
