    Oh my god... I just started up my old Pokemon Diamond Version from 2006 to play a new game, and I picked a chimchar, but I wasn't paying attention to the start of the first battle. I looked at my chimchar and it was purple.. I started freaking out as I've never gotten a shiny starter within all of the pokemon games i've played and I didn't soft reset at all. I'm so happy I got this Pokemon.
