I have an idea for a fan game, just like the post title says!

I'm very new here, so please let me know if I'm breaching pokecommunity etiquette or anything like that.

I've been into Pokemon for a long time, and I've always had this idea kicking around in my head. I have no idea how much interest there might be in an idea like mine, but I was kind of hoping to gauge that here, and maybe connect to people who have a little bit of time to work on a project like the one I have in mind.

I've always thought that a Pokemon game in which the player could explore the four regions based on parts of Japan would be very, very cool. I'm not sure what the size limits are for ROM hacks (specifically GBA hacks) or how one would go about introducing Gen IV Pokemon into a Gen III ROM or anything like that, but I really like the core of the idea. I think it would be totally fine to exclude Sinnoh, anyway; Hoenn, Johto and Kanto are big enough, I think, to train one's Pokemon nearly to level 100 organically, and I think it would be super cool if a player could be encouraged to do that for some in-game reason.

I've put a hell of a lot of thought into the story, which would take place about 10 years after the events of Gen I/III (so 7 after II/IV?). I feel like, even though this series of games has meant a whole lot to me over the years, there's been a lot of unused potential to flesh out the characters and tell a truly engaging story. That said, I didn't keep up with the media outside the games after like 2003, so I'd love to talk to somebody who's very knowledgeable about Pokemon lore in general.

I can't wait to hear from you all!

Hey there ivy, I've moved your thread into the Launchpad.

You might get more replies if you post a brief synopsis of your story, lots of people here are shy and don't ask many questions :)
