I have an idea for a game hack, don't know where to post it...

Basically, my idea is just a basic idea - change a game so you play through the rival's story.
E.g. - in FireRed, you play as Oak's grandchild; in SoulSilver, you play as the criminal... Etc etc.

I don't know how to hack and I don't know who to talk to so this idea can be padded out and implemented, so I figure if I posted this here... I could be advised as to where I go?

For the concept (storyline, characters, etc.), I'd try the Writing board.
For the technical aspects (like coding), go to the Emulation board.

That's really a fairly ambitious project, and it sounds pretty cool, too. I hope you can pull it off!
I know I'd probably play it.

Well, our emulation area has various ROM Hacking related sub-forums attached to it that would be helpful. IE Progressing Hacks, Showcase, Documents & Tutorials, Team Discussions, etc. The best thing to do would be try to learn how to hack, or learn the basics through the tutorials, and also to start a team. Very rarely do people create a hack 100 percent on their own, and when they try, it takes a looong time. D; So once you have more of an idea for the game in your head, that's the first thing you should do. That way you'd have multiple people to work out the story, maps, graphics, etc.

My advice would be lurk those areas, and lurk them a lot, until you have an idea of what kind of threads you need to make, and where you need to make them. Granted, I'm not even into hacking, so it's a bit hard for me to explain. ><; If you'll PM maybe I can explain it better, but I shouldn't go into it on here, since this area is really only supposed to be fore newbie introductions.

That said, I'am gonna close this thread, but like I said - PM me if you want, unless you just decide to read up on those areas. Either way, I'm around to help if you're confused.
