Would it be all right if you could use DromEd to create an entirely different game?

Of course nobody in the Pokemon world knows what I'm talking about, so I'll explain.

There is a game called Thief: The Dark Project. It's a stealth game that was created in 1998 by the DromEd program. From what I've seen already, you can design your own characters, objects, sounds, and environments (you just have to use the right program for sound). That includes pokemon!

There are lots and lots of Thief fans that hve created their own missions and there are even a few with campaigns of their own. I was thinking, since I'm a Pokemon fan and a Thief fan, why don't we integrate the two? Of course, I'm not asking to integrate the stories and characters of both games, but I think we can use the DromEd program to design Pokemon missions, sounds, and environments. It already has an AI system.

Go to youtube and type in Thief: The Dark Project, and you'll find a large number of videos about the game. It's a 3D game with 3D sound. One thing that might be a problem with the Pokemon fans, though, is the fact that Thief is a stealth game, so it has some of the stealth elements (like footsteps, noises, visibility, etc.)

Think about it, you could design your pokemon missions in a 3D world, have your own sounds and environments, even voice acting! One day, it might become famous.

You might have to look around for Dromed, but most you'll find a detailed tutorial at the fan site called "Thief: The Circle"

Go to google, type in "Thief: The Circle", and you're there. This isn't spam, this is a reference and an idea.

Who knows, maybe even the Thief fans will like the idea and give you additional tips on how to create your pokemon missions, using DromEd. And hey, you never know, the Pokemon community might gain some more members.

Here is a link to a Thief gameplay video that will give you an idea of the 3D world and sound I'm talking about:

Sounds cool, but I'm just curious as to what you mean by 3D sound.

What I mean is that since Thief was intended to be a stealth game, sound plays a massive role in the game. The faster you walk, the more noise you make. Also there are plenty of ambience noises that make Thief one of the most memorable stealth games in history.

If you put your headphones on, you'll hear noises from the left, the right, in front of, and behind you. I was thinking it would be interesting to hear sounds in Pokemon the same way.

That's an interesting idea, but considering that the main Pokemon games are just for the little DS system, and most of the sounds are fairly .midi file worthy, there really wouldn't be much point in making it a surround-sound game. True, when you have headphones on, the games music sounds a bit different (better?), but you probably couldn't make it very '3D', as you put it. o.o

That might be able to be done with the console Pokemon games, like 3D games that release for GameCube/Wii, but it's not like Pokmeon generally has a lot of sounds to be heard. At least not in comparison to Halo, Gears of War, Kill Zone, etc that have sounds going on all over the place.

It would basically just be footsteps, or grass moving, aside from Pokemon battles. Maybe I'm wrong there, but it's just my opinion. This is an interesting concept, though.

One of the things that the Thief game emphasized on is ambience. The people who created Thief loved to create all kinds of sound effects for different places, situations, and missions.

Maybe the Thief fan mission makers could teach people how to create their own sounds.
