EDIT: How do you trade to yourself!?
(presuming you only have 1 DS like normal people!?)
My best advice for platinum:
- Watch the Anime
- Read thread on the forum about the awesome features exclusive to plat.
- watch youtube videos of some awesome battles
- take wi-fi breaks at the GTS or the Wi-Fi Plaza to recharge
- (and for last resort) head back to D/P. Play it for 1-2 days. return to platinum.
Appreciative the vividly smooth and crisp graphics.
- don't evolve any of your pokemon. Make it more of a challenge.
- go into every house and explore everywhere. Maybe there's some
small places and people you skipped out on with D/P?
- Watch TV, read a book, be distracted while you fingers move
the directions around in wild grass and keep pressing A. Once
you do this for a few minutes, return to the game, and you'll see
how strong your pokemon are. (this worked for me in emerald.
