Ok, either my computer is just a rip off, or I got hit by a virus, or I dunno, but anyways, on with the problem, I dunno if this belongs in OC or other games or what, but here goes: Ok, lately, my computer is just going in these meltdown modes where it like freezes, and does random weird things. Plus, I got these weird colors all around the edge of the screen, they're a;ways there. Any computer geniuses know what I can do?

Well, I'm a computer nerd, but I can't tell... when did this problem begin, what type of comp are you using, and did any alerts popup on the screen, and what did you do if you saw them?

It started getting the weird colors and stuff yesterday, and it began going crazy yesterday. I don't have any antivirus programs because all the good ones cost cash :nervous:

Kay.. did you, or anyone in your house download something odd? Any odd E-mails that somebody opened? did you try re-starting the comp already?

AVG is free. Maybe it can help.

Did you install this satan problem known as AOL? Therein lies your problem...

    bleck!

actually, while I agree that AOL is trash, it in no way should affect the computer unless he just recently added or medded with it..

I haven't downloaded or opened any emails that looked suspicious recnetly, and I got rid of AOl like a month ago, my pC is kind of ok, except for the weird colors around the edges of my screen at all times

okay, from the results, I can judge that your computer has a serious (or not, can't tell unless i see the virus for myself) virus issue. got firewall or any of that other jazz?

Sorry about that, my PC froze completely, I had to turn it off and back on. I have no clue what a firewall is, but is there any way to fiz my problem?

Had it been me, I would have been digging through the computer files trying to find the virus, but if you're not careful, you can wreak your computer. Nothing you can really do but get some anti-virus software..

You might want to try downloading Ad Aware, wich gets rid of all the spyware on your computer. That may be causing the problem. Just go google ad aware, and the site should come up for the download.

As for the wierd colors on your screen...it might just be a faulty monitor. Does your whole screen change shades as well? My family computer monitor has a loose cord in the back due to its tremendous age, and the screen tints yellow sometimes if it is jostled. The funny stuff on your screen may also be a virus, so just see what ad aware can do. It's completely free.

I've had antivirus stuff before, but it never works on me, grr, this is starting to get annoying, and the screen is ticking me off. I dunno, I shoulda kept Norton Antivirus :P

I'm stuck with a firewall, and my friend has Wizard, but even though I have a lame blocker, I can find and delete my viruses, and sometimes I make anti virus coding, but it has nasty side effects....

I don't like the sund of nasty side effects, is there any way that the computer will just fix itself? Sometimes it runs very smooth and great, with the coolors around the edges, and other times it takes like an hour just to get it up and running.

LOL, I have AOL on my computer. I got comcast installed, but in Janurary, I downloaded AOL for 2 months free, and i still have it, LOL. They didn't cut it off, and it's cool when you have AOL boradband. I don't like dial up AOL, that sucks.

I hate when things happen to the computer, that you don't know how to fix. That's so annoying, because then you want to do a lot of stuff on the computer, and then you can't 'cause it's not working. That's what happened yesterday with my cable modem. I fixed it though, ^_^. Good luck with your computer, I know how much it sucks when it freezes and stuff.

well, you can either do nothing and hope for the best, or you can find a top-notch anti-virus program.. don't trust any of my stuff, they've virtually wreaked the computer I'm working with. mabye next time i shouldn't re-write an existing virus to make my anti-virus...

Is there any top notch antivirus programs thta will actually fix your computer, without having to pay for it? Yes, I am cheap :P
