(i hope this isn't spamming - sorry if it is)

uno alakazam...if its like the most intelligent thing ever then why is it obeying trainers?

why doesn't it read their minds or sumthin?

does anyone else see my point?

THINK OF ANY OTHER POKE's LIKE THT ^_^

I can only think of two other psychics, namely Uxie and Metagross.
But Uxie is like a legendary (at least according to the games, anime, and Nintendo), so I suppose we can leave that one behind.
Metagross is like a supercomputer, but I guess they do obey because they do care for their trainer, in the same way as their trainer does.
(That is, if they did exist.) This question is extremely theoretical, as I am arguing with myself whether a blob of pixels might not obey me xD.

BUT. Kadabra cannot evolve w/o experiencing several trainers. Metang (logically) cannot evolve w/o another Metang, which is very unlikely considering how rare wild beldum are, and the fact that two of them are needed to create a Metang, that could fuse into a Metagross.
So, in some way, they do owe their intelligence/Iq to their trainers?
I think I just killed my brain. :O

Because pokemon don't think of themselves as slaves. They're friends with their trainers.

They're intelligent is the whole reason they obey trainers.

Because they DON'T know chances of an event suddenly happening and altering. Also, Pokemon think differently from humans.

If they read their minds when battling against an opposite gender, they may find themselves disturbed anyways, so better safe than sorry :P.

If that's the first thing you wonder about Pokemon, and not how the human race isn't extinct with scores of Pokemon that can level entire cities with a single blast, your priorities may be out of order.

Easy...any intelligent being knows that law and order is the better alternative to chaos; following as trainer (an authority figure) keeps the 'zam in line.

its not just commands its a bond between pokemon and trainer so the pokemon wants to make them happy.

Because Alakazam knows if he doesn't obey the other 5 pokes will jump him

Probably because he does't want to, or nintendo doesn't want him to.

The trainer and the pokemon would probably have a strong relationship I imagine... and with that would come loyalty. Of course, if the trainer abused their Alakazam, I don't see why it wouldn't revolt. And that is why it's always handy to have five stronger, more loyal pokemon with you.

Because a trainer knows Alakazam's moves better than Alakazam. By that I mean that the trainer knows when is best to use each move Alakazam knows. Any Pokémon defending itself doesn't do as good as when a trainer is telling it what to do.
