Kris Kollyns and Jean Roan
Temporal Abyss
Temporal Abyss
-----
The two boys had been decending the gorge for some time now, and it seemed that they were making little progress. The further down they went, the colder and stranger it got. At times it seemed as though all of their actions were in slow motion, and at others it seemed as though everything was in fast forward. It wasn't until Kris stumbled upon a particularly slippery patch of ice that anything at all seemed to happen.
"Wh-whoa!" Kris gasped as he began to trip. He was barely able to keep his balance, and he was unable to keep a grip on his pokemon egg. "N-no! No, no, no, no, no!" Kris flailed around as he got his balance and attempted to catch the egg. He missed and the egg began to plummet to the bottom of the abyss, before it started to float.
"Uh...are any of your pokemon doing that?" Jean questioned as he stared at the floating egg.
"N-no. None of yours?" Kris stuttered, shocked by what he was seeing.
"Nope." Jean stated coolly. From what had been happening on the way down, Jean had already figured that there must be some powerful entity at the bottom of the gorge. Kris, however, was too occupied on the egg to think about that.
Kris reached out and snatched up the egg. He cradled it in his arms for a second before turning to Jean, "What was that?"
"It was whatever's at the bottom of this pit... If there is a bottom. This is taking forever." Jean said this with no signs of repressing his boredom.
The egg had once again began to float down the center of the spiral. It floated gracefully like it was the middle of the spiral and it was just following Kris downward.
The black walls began to fan out into a giant circle instead of the narrow walls. The ice spirals continued to precede them down the cliff. Jean had to sit down, while still sliding the ramp.
"What's up?" Kris asked, but as he did, he saw, jeans leg bandages became redder from his wound. But the ones on his hand were still white. That one was apparently healing well.
"I'm sure you've noticed, but I'm injured. A Carvannha bit my foot, and a Houndour bit my hand. The latter is healing well though." He said with a pained expression painted on his face.
Kris remained standing because Jean was seemingly more than capable at enduring this.
"Why does the damn Harbinger have to do this anyways? What gives him the right?" Jean changed the topic right as they hit the bottom of the gorge. Both of the boy's watches beeped, but neither payed it any attention. Lying before them, in the perfectly formed circle, with the black walls rising up so high that there was just a small speck of light above them now... was Dialga. It was asleep behind it's miniature fortress and maze of Towering boulders. They were made from the same material that the walls were. It's giant blue and silver body was curled up in front of what looked like an empty black hallway, from which no light came.
Kris put out his arms and caught the slowly floating egg without taking his eyes of of Dialga, the master of time. "Well, guess that explains time feeling weird." Kris said stoically, transfixed by the sight before them.
"Yeah, um," Jean hesitated, also transfixed by the wonder of the abyss. "Wha-what did our watches say?"
"I dunno." Kris raised his arm to read the message, but found it hard to take his eyes off of Dialga. "It says 'The world was formed with time and space, but darkness also took it's place. And the Seven Deadly Sins were made on the earths face. It is because of this that your realm must depart, as it must start over, without the dark. A fresh start will make for new and better lives, while the new race of humanity strives. This is my message to you and your friend, unless you stop me before the end.'"
"What!?" Jean checked his own watch in disbelief. "Well it also says we won our challenge, that's good."
"Yeah but, what does this mean." Kris said, keeping his voice low so that the blue beast in the corner stayed asleep.
"I think it's the Harbinger's message. About why he's ending the world." Kris looked up at Jean who appeared to be deep in thought.
"So apparently, we have become disgraceful to the human race and now he, or it, is trying to wipe earth clean and start anew?" Jean said. It was a rhetorical question and Kris knew better than to answer. "This is... mind blowing."
"Oh, Mr. Harbinger, you are so poetic," Kris said with a cheesy impression of some kind of poetry lover. He then returned to a bored tone. "Too bad you had to be the psychopath that was going to destroy the world," He paused, "And, if you were going to destroy the world, why would you bring us here to stop you?" Kris then stopped and stared.
"Uh...hello?" Jean waved his hand in front of Kris's face to get his attention, and Kris raised his arm, placed his hand on Jean's head and turned it so that it faced Dialga. The ancient diety that ruled time was now awake, and was staring back at the two boys, judging what he should do with the peculiar creatures.
"I think that it might be time to leave..."
"Yeah, maybe we should." Both boys began to inch away, back towards the ice pathway. However, Dialga had made its decision, and stood up and gave a powerful roar. The rocks above the ice path fell and blocked the exit, narrowly missing the two boys.
"Well, there goes that plan."
Jean dashed to the nearest rock. Kris bounded towards another. They both began releasing pokemon. Jean released King, and Sid while Kris released all of his pokemon. King and Sid joined Star at Jean's right.
Jean had his back pressed up against the wall, while Dialga thrashed, destroying the rocks that lie immediately before it.
Right now Jean was panicking. How would they beat Dialga, The alleged creator of the entire Sinnoh region? Along with Palkia of course. The shards of rock that were flying from the boulders hit the back of the rocks that Jean and Kris were behind.
"Guys..." Jean turned toward his pokemon, "You'll have to fight him. I don't know what we'll do but just hit him with whatever we can. Star and Sid you two will have to work together." The two turned away from each other, they were both haughty. "Okay, so just hit em with this... Star, use Aqua Ring on King and Sid you freeze it there. Then King you'll charge at it using Giga Impact. If we do this right it might leave a scratch. GO!" They set to work, there efforts shot blue light into the air. Then they moved into the isle that the rocks left open to Dialga. King was in a spinning ice shell and he charged at Dialga using every ounce of his force. The ground beneath him was cracking and he rammed into Dialga's knee.
When Dialga felt the force of what seemed like a rock being thrown at his knee, he reflexively shot his leg out. This caused King, frozen in his ice ring, to fly across the cavern and smash into the wall behind Jean. The glass shattered and hit King as he fell. King got up, but just barely.
"I don't think there's much that we can do." Kris turned to his pokemon, "But let's try anyway!" All of Kris's pokemon took fighting stances, staring dangerously at the deity before them. "Cinder, use Blast Burn! Dream, use Hypnosis! Yorkie, Fire Fang! Valiant, Featherdance! Hood, use Counter! Rex, use Screech!" Cinder released a huge blast of blue and white flames that engulfed Dialga, while Valiant and Rex lowered his attack and defense. Then Yorkie and Dream ran towards Dialga, who was now invisible behind a screen of smoke. Hood stood where he was, waiting.
Yorkie flew out of the smoke and flew into Hood, who was knocked back into the wall. Hood stood back up, enduring the pain as long as he could. The smoke cleared, and Dream and Rex layed unconscious next to each other. Kris recalled all three pokemon. It's now time to get creative, he thought.
"Valiant, grab Hood and then dive bomb Dialga. Cinder, use Flamethrower on Valiant." Valiant snatched up Hood, whom was still storing power, and started to spin as he flew towards Dialga. Cinder used Flamethrower on Valiant, enveloping him in a coat of flames. As he neared Dialga, he tossed Hood, who flew towards Dialga while still spinning, and then dive bombed Dialga. Hood then released his attack on Dialga's stomache. Dialga stumbled back a few feet, before he used Roar of Time and knocked out both pokemon.
Watching King get knocked back like a bug, along with all of Kris's pokemon, Jean panicked. If all of their pokemon couldn't beat it... how would they get out of here? In his panic Jean thought for a split second and got his knife out of his bag. Would this even have any effect? But that's not what went through his mind he just ran. His footsteps echoed as he charged forward to attack the Dialga. His foot was burning in pain, it was probably bleeding out from overuse. He was just a few paces away when he stopped. Not regularly but in between steps. He was floating. He saw in his peripheral vision that Kris was just watching in disbelief. Dialga looked at Jean and he stared into Jean's eyes that were glued to the spot.
There was a brief flash of blue and Jean saw what would've taken a month to see in minutes. He couldn't spot anything in particular but him and Dialga standing on a floating rock platform in complete darkness. He thought that he saw others around him but couldn't tell. The images disappeared and Jean was standing on to feet again. Dialga was gone and Kris, his pokemon, and Jean's pokemon were standing around him. King was however injured.
"What just happened?" Kris asked while looking at Jean. They were now standing in front of the black tunnel.
