I've made a few Fakemon based on Australian Pokemon

Magpie: Maga, Magpey, Magperick
Echidna: Aquidna, Akwidnoro
 
you should definately put Uluru in there! The bad guys could be using it's cosmic power to harness some massiv legendary power.
 
Wow, that region map mock-up looks pretty nice. :O

But if Pokemon did actually take place in Australia, I would imagine more poison Pokemon would be prevalent, no?
