At the end of every trainer battle you have, you win or lose money.

Of course! People will always gamble at games where there are others competing against each other. Pokémon would be no different.

Plus, as Pokémon battles at the highest levels tend to be very unpredictable, hypothetically the stakes would be very high.

There is a dark side to Pokemon with people making bets to like Team Rocket.
