I would say a growlthie or migthyena (First evo) I would treat like a regular dog.

I'd go for anything in Dratini's evolutionary line. Prefereably a Dragonite :)

Gallade
I say Gallade ( I see no one else has...) He be good to practice my sword fighting with.:P Not to mention they are as loyal as most other -considered to be loyal- Pokemon.
And if not that, Pikachu ( I noticed not many people said that either...).
