My boyfriend and I have often discussed what our "dream Pokemon game" would be like. o.o; Ahem, here are some of our ideas:
3-Dimensional Pokemon Game
It would be neat to have a 3-D Pokemon game where you actually earned badges and caught Pokemon. Picture exploring grassy plains and seeing the Pokemon in their habitats, or immersing yourself in a seamless town! I know we probably will never have a game like this (for a long, long, LONG time...), but its still a dream.
Customizable Trainers and Pokemon
It would be really cool if you could make your trainer look like you, your rival look like your friend, and give your personal touch to your prized Pokemon. Some Pokemon could get haircuts (Like Sparky from the anime had messy hair), some could get little tattoos or piercings (kinda borrowed the idea from Black and White, where you could tattoo your Creature), or collars or anything else you can think of... Pokemon Salons, maybe? And there could be "Pokemon Trends", and following them could help you win contests!
More Save Files
One downside to Pokemon for me is that I love starting new games, but each time I do so I have to erase my old file. And then I have to raise another super-team to fight my friends with! Save files on the same game couldn't trade or battle each other, it would just be nice to know that just to enjoy the replay value of your game doesn't include completely destroying all of your hard work.
Access to Every Region
Start from Kanto, and collect Kanto Pokemon and defeat Kanto gyms. Then travel to Johto. Just travel from region to region in order, catching and raising the Pokemon native to those lands.
Difficulty Settings
Rookie- The easiest setting, a good choice for someone new to Pokemon. Pokemon trainers and gyms are simple to defeat, and Pokemart prices are a little lower than normal.
Trainer- The middle difficulty. This is the typical difficulty setting that you and I are used to. Good for the casual gamer.
Champion/Master- The hardest choice. Trainers and gyms have stronger Pokemon, and use more strategic/intelligent moves. Pokemart prices are higher than normal.
Legendaries In-Game
You could catch all the alluring legendaries, but they would be very difficult to encounter.
Permission to Battle
I hate it when I'm trying to rush to the Pokemon Center, and then some random trainer sees me and wants to fight, now! So in our dream game, they could only request a fight, but you would have to accept it. You could only battle a trainer once per day, and have to wait until the next day to fight again.
More Weather/Time Options
By the time this dream game could even begin to develop, there would be a system that, like the Wii, can find out what your local weather is and mimic that in game. It would also be light out or dark depending on the time. So if you're playing on a rainy night, then the Pokemon world will be rainy and dark! Also, people you talk to might say something like, "Oh, its such a clear day! I should go out with my Pokemon for a picnic!" Or, "Yaaaawnnn, I'm not a morning person... (grumble grumble)". Imagine running into someone during the winter, and being scolded for "not wearing a coat, young man/lady!", LOL!
Interaction With The Environment
Imagine going back to Kanto with your new Johto Pokemon. They are unique to you, and no other of their kind can be found in this region. Let's say you have two Chikoritas, a male and female. You release them in Viridian Forest, and go away for awhile. When you return, after some time, you encounter several wild Chikoritas! The two you released could breed and slowly the forest has new, exotic Pokemon running around! Maybe they could even learn special moves they never would have normally, to "adapt" to their new environment.
Also, if the Pokemon had a nickname or a distinguishing feature, you could re-encounter them after releasing them. I think it would be neat to know how your old friend is doing!
Interaction With Pokemon
For some reason, I think it would be fun to go to those Pokemon Daycares and maybe toss a little rubber ball with your Pokemon. It would serve the purpose of keeping your Pokemon attatched to you while still having it in Day Care, but it wouldn't be as much as regular Pokemon in your party would get. Same would go to Pokemon you store away... they go to a little ranch (like Pokemon Ranch for the Wii) and you could visit them sometimes.
Yeah, a lot of this is just wishful thinking, but I would explode with joy at a Pokemon game like this!
