Are you happy with the way the games are set up now, or do you feel that they could have made it better than they did?
I admit that I love the overall concept of Pokemon: a world where people have learned to coexist with unusual creatures with special powers. However, I believe that they could have taken that idea and developed something much better with it.
I'm still a huge fan of the Pokemon games, but I must admit that they are just about as repetetive as the anime. In every gameboy game so far, it's been all about going around and defeating gym leaders and then beating the elite four. Maybe there's a few side quests or new areas after that, but once you complete all those the game is boring.
I personally think that a plot based more around defeating Team Rocket/Aqua/Magma than just becoming the champion would be interesting.
I think most of the gym leaders are awesome characters and I would hate to see them removed altogether, but I feel that the whole thing with having to go around defeating them is kind of corny and it's one of the many things that's making the games so repetetive. However, I'm not sure how we would have room for them if they weren't there to defeat. Perhaps they could be experts of the types that they train, and be more involved with the overall plot? If they did something like this, Pokemon become more of a regular RPG-like game. It would really be in interesting thing to see. At this point, though, changing the plot to something like that would probably make the games lose a lot of old fans. They really could have only done something like this right when the first games came out. Maybe defeating the "bad guys" could become the main plot point and becoming the champion a side thingy instead of the other way around. I dunno.
Anyway, post comments, ideas, etc.
