I was curious if there's interest in developing a Gen 4 Remake/Demake using PokeEmerald Expansion as a base. This project was started by the Prismatic Platinum team, unfortunately in recent months progress has slowed immensly due to personal lives/jobs, however work has recently begun again.
The goal is to have up to Oreburgh City completed for a beta in order to spark some interest and bring more people onto the team to complete the remainder of the game.
Currently, the following has been Completed:
-Removal of majority of Emerald maps/events for minimum conflicts, excluding battle frontier events
-Majority of Platinum's music in GBA soundfont, implemented into the game/available in porymap
-Overhaul of exterior mapping system to allow for primary tileset to swap in the overworld
-Twinleaf Town exterior mapping
-50% Twinleaf interior mapping
-Sandgem Town exterior mapping
-Jubilife exterior mapping
-90% Connecting Routes to above towns/cities exterior mapping
-95% Trainers/NPC overworld/battle sprites
-90% Dawn/Lucas overworld sprites(all complete, but need to refine a few such as bike anims)
-Dawn/Lucas battle sprites
-HG/SS Pokédex & Dexnav implementation
-Pokétch initial implementation
-majority of dialogue logged from Platinum, yet to be implemented
For those interested in helping out, we're mainly looking for:
-Mappers(with some code or sprite art experience, understanding of GBA palette limitations and implementation)
-Sprite Artists(map tiles, understanding of GBA palette limitations and implementation)
-Intro/Opening screen designers(involves scripting, sprite art, and understand of PokeEmerald's camera functions. Rough version of title screen has been completed)
-Scripters
-Animated tile designers(water/door anims, snow eventually)
-Anyone looking to pitch in!
If you are interested in helping, please let me know and we'll get you involved! We coordinate everything through discord, but I'm always for open source so if anyone is looking to use/check out what we've worked on so far, the github page is linked here. All that's asked is to credit the appropriate contributors if anything is used.
